Your question is for someone with far more insider knowledge than either of us have. We do not know how well the old front would work with the new rear. The issue with soft tires is usually related to longevity. Providing soft tires only for them to start chunking halfway though the race isn't good for anyone (we don't need another COTA 2014).

The new Michelin soft front was giving excellent longevity, breezing through a very hot Doha race. Strange how it's not deemed fit for recent cooler races where Yamaha were reportedly struggling to get heat into their front tyres.
Rossi's more point and squirt, heavy braking (compared to Lorenzo) helps marginally, giving him a distinct advantage over his team mate. He's made no secret he'd rather have harder tyres in order to negate any threat from Lorenzo.

Marquez just gone down and looks injured , slammed down hard on his shoulder and was clutching his collarbone.

Ouch - apparently he's dislocated his shoulder according to the MotoGP twitter feed

He's been flown to the hospital now to have it checked out (according to Honda)

Maybe just to be on the safe side

When I first saw the crash, I blamed it completely on Dani's speed and him turning in just as MM needed some room. I haven't watched it enough to change my mind, yet.

I hope Marc makes it this weekend. It sure would be different without him in MotoGP. And not for the better, in my opinion. Will The Maniac take out a lap rider on Sunday, just to prove that he can take anyone, anywhere, at anytime? ;)

He raced very well at Silverstone after dislocating his shoulder there. This could be the best race if he was going to race injured though the ducatis will be hard to catch,Rossi will probably beat Lorenzo here so points lost would be minimal.

Should be a clue that if Yamaha could close a 8 tenths gap from FP2 to Q2, how overmatched Ducati really is compared to the Japanese factory machines.

I don't think Dani was at fault at all. The crash seemed similar to what happened at COTA when Dovi got into turn 1 too hot and because Pedrosa was using him as a reference, he also went in hot and lost control.

After watching the replay, Dani went in too hot and blew the apex and Marc must of been using him as a reference because he screwed up and got his bike sideways trying to get it stopped but couldn't. So it wasn't that Dani was too slow, Dani was actually too fast, went wide, and was attempting to recover while Marc was also too hot and lost control.

Was it Eugene or Michael that said he would get out of Rossi’s way and respect the unwritten Rossi Rule? Someone remind me. I forgot which one to hate.

If you live in a glass house, don't throw rocks.

It was Michael who tweeted the 'unwritten rule' .........

Norge on the other hand is a top bloke - he, on the other hand tweeted the famous Warren Buffet quote post Sepang.

Top quali session.

Ianone is a ...... and will bottle it tomorrow Imo. I don't get why he tried to follow Lorenzo when he clearly had the pace. I hate that

It will be like Qatar, Lorenzo is back. Rossi rode well, but Marc has more pace for tomorrow. Should be a cracker

No it wasn't if you actually watched it ianone pulled in behind Lorenzo on the straight after turn one, Lorenzo saw it and played his game.

I saw Lorenzo waiting for Iannone to come by, then he pulled out behind him attempting to get a tow. Unfortunately for him, Iannone noticed and pulled off the line forcing Lorenzo to go on his own.
