There aren't any hotels close enough to not need a car. Best to just stay near downtown. If I were you I'd get on airbnb and get a place in the East Downtown Austin area. Motogp isn't super popular here so you can get a decent deal.
Hotels in a decent area are already too pricey.

Think I'm going to this one next season. I live next door in Louisiana, but my kid is into competitive martial arts, and April is one of our biggest competition months. We always have a tournament out of state the same weekend. But I need to see Rossi before he retires, so I may let my wife take my son to his tournament while I hit the race.
