<{POST_SNAPBACK}><div class='quotemain'>RJ you and I are huge Pastrana fans...which impressed you more, this jump or the double back flip? For me the double back flip was a little more impressive.
I was hoping I wouldn't come off as watering down this accomplishment...but in the world of the internets it may have seemed that way. I'm with you though when you look at the length of a football field and saw how high and fast he was traveling, TV would no doubt do it an injustice.
Yeah, I hear you man. Actually, I had the privilege of being at the double back flip here in Los Angeles. I have been lucky to go to all the X-Games here in town. As far as technical skill, it seems like the double-back flip was more impressive because it looks like more is going on. And to duplicate it would be very difficult. Its complicated to compare it to a single jump. But Vegas is only 4 hours away from where I live, so I've seen a few guys do "smaller" jumps like 80-130 feet. It "seems" easy when you see it until you try to jump 20-30 feet yourself. But have you ever seen Seth Enslow’s monster jump? Do you remember his landing? (If you have seen it on video). Well the guy's skull almost came apart. It was put back together like a jigsaw puzzle. Now Seth jumped 251 feet! He was in the air almost 3 seconds. Now compare this to what this Aussie has done. He jumped 320 feet; he was in the air close to 4 seconds! I admit, it looks easy on the video. It did to me at first until I started to think about it more. So I know what you mean with your initial reaction, I know we both have respect for the accomplishment, but visually it’s a bit tricky to compare the two fantastic feats of Travis and Robbie the Aussie.
What I find amazing was that the Aussie managed to keep his bike sailing forward without lifting the front too much or getting it sideways and sticking the landing. If you get to see Seth's landing, it almost doesn't look like he overshot it, yet his bike comes apart like a toy. Now this Aussie stuck the landing four seconds later after he left the first ramp! And he did it twice! Really, I don't think he would have survived had he under or over shot by a few feet. So imagine the precision in both of those jumps. Wow, the more I think about it, the more I'm impressed.
