Lotus, "politics" in high 'steaks' (sorry Wills) motorsport? No, sounds like bulls .... to me.

lol it's only ........ to those that continue to subscribe to a worldview theory that when it comes down to ethical, or unethical political choices in high level sporting competition, ethical choices will always win out.

...., look at Big Mac, Barry Bonds, A-Rod, and the hundreds of others who made the ethical choice to do the right thing in MLB.

Oh wait.

Willski it's not even a question of if it's good for business, it is absolutely, positively great for business.

The problem with MotoGP is they built themselves around Rossi for better or worse. I genuinely believe if they could get around the human cloning ban, they would clone Rossi so he could forever be on the grid. It's in their best interest that he is competitive so that he sticks around till at least 39 or 40 years old. They need him to break Agostini's records or at least be in a position to since it means more money than you can possibly imagine. 12 wins to break the record of wins, and 2 more world championships to break that record.

If you look at MotoGP purely from a business perspective and making as much money as possible, you will engage in as many shenanigans as possible to get VR the wins and titles.

So what you saying? The only reason he's won all these titles is because of Dorna favouritism?

I've never experienced internal combustion which very nearly led to external embarrassment so much in my life.....oh my god.

Remember that poor woman in O'Hare on the way back ? The one who shared a table with us ?

Over two years later she's probably still ruing that decision.

Kropo said as much regarding tire manufacturer shenanigans and their MO in regards to racing series, you would think NannyKesh would at least take it from him. And of course Krop's source must have come from an official on the record, otherwise it would be one of those unbelievable conspiracy theories.

Paranoia-Jum... Always intentionally obtuse and trying to pettifog me by making me point out repeatedly that you are pretending to misinterpret the intent of my post. Never said Michelin was the king of ethics. What I suggested - was that if they were more pragmatic - they might put their money behind rider who was likely to win more championships in the coming years. Considering how much time you've invested in studying the rules of debate and how smart you are - I find it ostentatiously perverse that instead of relying on your intellect... you resort to trying to baffle with ......... :poop:

Ok, so then you were agreeing with my conspiracy theory, ah sorry, I thought otherwise. Ha!

I think with the trade deadline coming up, we need to initiate a trade with another forum.

We'll offer Keshav plus a minor leaguer to be named later (possibly littlesparrows) for new blood.

Sorry - as Jum knows.... always been a free agent.

Read it aqain. I was saying that if were one to accept your hypothesis - then - the pragmatic thing might be for Michelin to back the rider who has the greatest likelihood of winning multiple championships in the future rather than someone whose career is nearing the downside of the curve.

Kesh baby, come on, you're not seriously going to try and dispute how much #46 means to MotoGP from a financial perspective? Rossi matters more than any other rider in history to the commercial success of MotoGP. I don't like the guy, but I wouldn't even dare underestimate just what he means for Dorna...and how far Dorna would go to keep this guy near the front of the grid.

Michelin wouldn't back the most likely rider to win in the future because Dorna has probably already had the discussion about getting Rossi to Valhalla within the next couple of years. Imagine this, Rossi is tied with Agostini for the all-times win list, you don't think there are going to be people trying to commit homicide to get through the gates to see Rossi break the record?

Whatever doubt one may have had about how strong this man's attraction is to the fans, was dispelled when I read the comments in the Casey Stoner article I posted in the other topic. It was filled with raving lunatic Rossi boppers who are still filled with hate for Casey. These are the people Dorna wants to keep happy.

Saves me typing.

But I'll add, guess who got bailed out of Ducati, and guess WHO orchestrated (putting it euphemistically ) the deal?

Kesh, u can ask Kropo if u don't know, but fair warning, it's just a conspiracy.

Anyway, Dorna have a hard on for Rossi AND Marc. So if they can manage keeping these two battling for wins, it's a win win win situation. Marc needs no help in this department. Hell he's riding a dog and still blasting through for the lead. Guess who needs just a little bit of help.

I never said that empirical evidence doesn't point that way. I just like to be clear about what I said and what I didn't say. If you read my comments - I was merely suggesting an alternative possibility - rather than go down the road of Jum's saying that it's an iron-clad, forgone conclusion, for the sake of trying to give the dialog some legs. Again - Jum knows me from Ye Olde Days - when one of the liveliest parts of this forum were frequently in the Other Than Racing parts of the forum when we had incredibly heated discussions about politics and the general corruption by big business - in which Jum and I were always in total alignment. So naivete about big business is not something I can be charged with.
