Just read where Spies rear tire chunked like Rossi's. Kid cant buy a break. Bautista, what a tool, that was just inexcusable.. Would have liked to see what the race would have looked like with the Honda's seemingly making the softs work, against Lorenzo on the hards. If reports earlier in the season of Yamaha being on their 3rd engine were true, it looks like they will be on their fifth next week. Maybe crop can give some insight on this brewing problem for Yamaha.

I heard they will let him have another engine since it was not his fault which is fair.

Stoner did say the new bridgestone tyre chosen by the majority would be found out in race conditions, I am not sure if he was referring to the hard version.

He was and it was the front tire during breaking he was concerned with about the new tires.

Bautista will have to start from the last place of the grid in Germany. Lorenzo said it's not enough. He should have been out of the race.

Lorenzo destroyed his 3rd engine in his crash but Race Direction will allow him to get a new one without penalty.

That's very good news. Very early to say but with Mike Webb taking over from Butler and there are already signs of decisive decisions being made instead of knee-jerk reactions.

Edit : oops, Caramac beat me to it.

For Race Direction to allow this, a rule change would have to be approved by the Grand Prix Commission

However, Yamaha have not yet received a formal communication about this. The rules do not allow for this, no exceptions can be made. (cont)

Lorenzo told press he will be allowed to replace the engine destroyed in the crash, said that was what Race Direction had told him. (cont.)

Bollocks to rules cant Repsol have a word and sort it or Marquez or Dorna or Honda

Gresini team has appealed against the penalty imposed, and taking it to the FIM stewards

Circus Motogp style

There are always appeals.

There was some speculation on the australian coverage about an early race malfunction of his carbon brakes. He is a known hothead, but surely it wasn't a considered move he believed to be feasible?

Another example of the law of unintended consequences operating with a dorna rule.

Mike I dont mind appeals etc when something is up in the Air

Marquez incident and Batty today are pretty much clean cut incidents

there teams can see this

to me its more of trying to please a sponsor / they dont want to be seen involved with something that might have a little bit of controversy around it

its racing ffs

plus we seen in the past incidents punished and others not its not consistent enough

Dorna i Dont speak that, it makes my blood boil

After a little research, it was Spies, and both tech 3 machines that were on their 3rd engine, not Lorenzo. This was probably the first run on number 3 for Lorenzo. It will be interesting to see what they do. I had not heard of any provision that allowed a replacement if its not your fault

think Krop has said its Jorge's 3rd engine thats gone pop and it was new this weekend

“Well, today was a complete disaster, Alvaro's move was crazy. I met him after the incident, he apologised and we shook hands but in my opinion this is not enough to justify the accident. When I made a mistake in Japan in 2005 I was penalized with a race. Race Direction told me that he will start from last position on the grid in Sachsenring but this is nothing. We hope that we will be lucky in the future that nothing will happen but if the riders are not penalized properly then they will continue to do crazy things like today. My leg is a big bruise, a big impact but nothing serious happened. Luckily for us we had a 25 point advantage or we would now be far behind. Now we are at zero with Casey so we begin again, the Championship is long so let’s see what happens.”

2005 Lorenzo got a one-race ban after a reckless dive up the inside of Alex de Angelis who ended in the gravel trap,

2012 Bautista gets grid penalty for a reckless dive up the inside on Lorenzo who ended in the gravel trap,

Any more info on the tire chunking issue? Seems like kind of a big deal when tires are flying apart in chunks! More than a bit dangerous IMO.

Lorenzo hasn't made himself too many new friends in Spain with those words after the Bautista .... up. Bautista is very well liked by the locals here, he is seen as a very normal friendly pleasant guy who made a huge mistake who had no ill intentions. He was gutted and apologizing as he was picking himself up. He has a huge fan club.

Bautista told Spanish press he lost his breaking markers behind Dovi and he was suddenly in the wrong place. The extra motivation from last weeks result unfortunately turned negative.

Not saying he doesn't deserve a penalty, just that Lorenzo asking for an increase is not very sporting.

With sponsors as hard to come by as they are, its going to be tough to make a bike set out. Maybe take away rider points instead.

It seems like we have some people on this forum who don't like north american riders. Ever wonder why austin, texas doesn't seem to keen on bringing moto gp to their track? With no americans on any of these teams what are they going to use to draw people to the track.Nicky comes back to beat rossi and spies has his usual bad luck. Does that make them bad riders? Are both these riders getting the best support from their teams? None of us knows what really goes on the inside.

While everyone is touting how their rider is the best you all are missing one very important point. Moto gp is big, big, trouble. At the rate its going downhill you won't soon have to worry about which bike your favorite is going to be on.
