Could well be, too many races for the rider's to cope with if it goes up to be honest. It's going to turn more like F1 for the rider's. They still want a pretty stressless life without having to mvoe around from country to country every couple of days.

I remember last year, there where the same rumours of america getting 2 gp's. all I can think about is if laguna is the best track with the best track conditions america has, how do the other tracks look like???
<
I remember haydens reacting on vale's comment on the safety of laguna, he said laguna was nothing compaired to some other tracks he used to ride at.

but it could happen, 2009 is so far in the future they can change alot in that period of time...

NO! there is no way a 2nd us gp will be held at indy! the road course is a joke half of which runs on the banking of the oval part of the nascrap/irl track! can u imagine the reaction of the riders if they were told yes ur racing here! they'd flat out refuse. & i would'nt blame em! i'd be a two wheel version of last years f1 joke. if & when there is a 2nd american gp, can't be called the "usgp" because laguna has the exclusive right to that name, it will be held at MILLER MOTORSPORTS PARK in toole UT. it's brand new state of the art road course. at it's longest configuration it is 4.5 miles long! 90% of wich can be seen from any viewing spot. it has a strait almost if not as long as mugelo.http://www.millermotorsportspark.com/index.cfm

the tracks in the U.S. are ...., unsafe, bumpy, narrow, ugly.

sept for 1, i believe it's Miller Motor Sports Park in Utah, new track, and was designed with motorcycle racing in mind.....some of the AMA guys
(formerly of GP or WSBK) said it reminded them of Istanbul (SP?)
itis a bad ass track...

INDY? no way, never happen....... track to.

right on the money FROST!

yeah the front straight is right at 1 mile i believe....

The track that i would like to see become a GP would be Road America. It's having some renovation done but im not sure to the extent. Its 4.3 miles or so and it is the most beautiful track ive seen. The GP bikes would be perfect i think, long straights and some nice tighter spots.

And I will.

i like R.A...but, Road America would have to do a lot to get GP's there....
even some of the AMA guys have said it's not safe enough for bikes....

Millers done.

You're spot on Hammer but Road America is undergoing a couple million dollar face lift. New paddock, new garages, new media center and I believe they will be making changes to the track itself. The gentleman who now runs the track sat down with Mat Mladin, Ben Bostrom and the other guys in charge of rider safety for the AMA for a few hours and walked the track so RA now knows what needs fixing. They're in the process of making big changes with a goal of getting a world championship race. Whether they mean WSB, MotoGP or other, that I don't know.

I'm new here, but please bear with me..

If America got a second Gp? Puh-leeze...the track it's at isn't worthy of the first GP. If anything, kick Laguna Seca to the curb and put the USGP at Miller Motorsports Park, a purpose build track with first rate safety, pavement, facilities and reasonable weather...

But I'm just a 9 to five'r...what do I know?

You're right, Laguna Seca isn't worthy of a GP. The safety has gotten to be reasonable and barring the disaster with track surface this year, the track itself is fine for GPs. The problem is the layout, it's far too tight for MotoGP bikes. MotoGP needs to come to a track where they can reach 200mph, someplace like Miller (or dare I say Road America). The only reason Laguna got the USGP is because it is recognizable to the entire racing world because of previous USGPs, WSB and the Corkscrew. If Miller had been built by 2004 or 2005 then it probably would have gotten the race.

my dream is to one day build a Gp quality track here on the east coast...
