I just read a report from this past weekend's AMA Supercross round from Atlanta. There is a lot of speculation as to whether or not Ricky Carmichael will return to race in his third year with Suzuki. Apparently the AMA's decision to dock him 25 points and dramatically jeopardize his title chase in 2006 has not sat well with RC. Rumors are circulating that the multi time SX, MX and MX Des Nations champ will go to NASCAR in 2007. It isn't clear as to which series he will be participating in but the rumors sound as though he is fed up with the AMA scene. Check out the whole story courtesy of Transworld Motocross, here.

Don't really follow AMA SX, so, I don't know that much about RC. Is he capable? Could he be competitive in NASCAR?

Interesting article,

Nacar is where you drive round in circles, so I can imagine RC getting a bit bored with that unless the series start to introduce Whoops and tabletops

Dazz, the Chassis in a nascar is bent so it takes those corners better. It can't do anything else. It's like a drag car that steers.... and even then it only really steers one way.
NASCAR... That's what happens when you pave a speedway

I'm not sure if he could do it, I don't know the talent level of the drivers in NASCAR and I've never even heard of RC doing any four wheel driving. If I would have predicted any MX star to go to NASCAR I would have put my money on Travis Pastrana. He's doing some rally here in the states for Subaru and is doing pretty well from what I've read. He also teamed with Jeff Gordon to represent the US in that international driving comp., I can't remember the name of it now. I think it's held in France or it used to be anyways. Sounds like he didn't get embarrassed too badly and Gordon did pretty well.

The cars don't do much other than go left. Their lap times at road courses are embarrassing and Tony Stewart, an Indy 500 and former CART/IRL part time driver, generall cleans up and embarrasses the rest of the field.

Race of champions, it features rally and GP drivers teamed up by nationalities and individual competition.

If I recall correctly double WRC champion Sebastien Loeb won the last one.

I hope you're not talking about NASCAR

Nope, they race rally cars (Citroën Xsara WRC), road cars (Ferrari 360) and buggies.
