Honda have give Marco Andretti the chance to live up to his family name by handing him his first F1 test drive in Jerez next week.

The 19 year old from the USA is the son of former Mclaren driver Michael and the grandson of 1978 World Champ Mario.

Andretti proved his driving credentials by finishing as "Rookie of the year" in the 2006 Indycar series and coming a close 2nd in the Indy 500.

"I am thrilled Honda has offered me this incredible oppotunity" he said.

Are Honda on the lookout for a replacement for Barricello in the next season or 2?

I agree they are looking for a replacement but it will not be Andretti.
As much as I would love to see an American go fast in F1, I dont think he will be the one.
His name has given him some favoritism that others dont experience and he has got the go fast stuff from the beginning. Maybe the kid is good, his genes sure talk alot, but we will see what he is made of next year and then we can talk about F1

I think so...still depends if Barichello could score good points this coming season.

They can't replace Barrichello with Andretti - Barrichello is full of experience whereas Andretti is only 19. If Honda are considering going for the manufacturer's title this year they'd better think straight!

^ They are not but in the next 2 seasons Barricello must surely want to retire he is 34 now? so no harm in Honda testing out some young blood, every so often.
