Ambition Over Talent --- what was it??

It was more ambition than talent ,yes.

Rossi has done this before.Trying to pass in the most difficult corner to gain respect. This time he sais he didn't try to pass, and maybe he didn't.Anyway ,he wasn't as causious as needed and made a mistake. How is the other riders going to be certain he will pull such passes off in the future?because i'm sure this wasn't the last time he tries.

By the way,I don't think Stoners comment about "How is your shoulder?" was too far off.As Rossi fell and slid quite a few meters on it with the weight of his bike and Stoner's on top,but didn't mention or show any signs of the least bit of discomfort afterwards?!

so stoner finally speaks out to say the apology was just an alibi...

wish he didn't do it , he should know by now how unjust motogp is these days and just concentrate on humiliating the guy on track

you can see it on www.sport1.de , right in the center when you click motogp

Any way you slice it Casey was spot on. Rossi was too ambitious about that corner what ever you believe he was up to.

My son, who is normally as "diplomatic" as Michaelm, brought up an interesting point.

We all tend to think of the take out as a "racing incident", however knowing the recent talk and "history" between Rossi and Stoner, and the ridiculously wrong place and manner to make the attempt to pass ( Ducati front end or not according to son, he recons it would have happened if he was on the Yam as well and I tend to agree ). Their was perhaps even more clouded judgment by Rossi, clouded by a real need to beat Stoner specifically. As my son pointed out had we made the move we would be penalized for dangerous riding.

My son's idea was that Rossi should not have been awarded points for that round, as there is absolutely no deterrent for him to do it in the future. And given his current desperate situation on the Ducati would he be capable of not repeating such acts again?

Interesting comments from another previously Pro-Rossi person.

well my daughter says that maybe they should just do time trials. That way they could see who's fastest without having to get close to each other. and my daughter says they should all hold hands and go to couples counseling together before each race. and she say's falling off of a motorcycle at 100mph is at least a teeny tiny deterrent.

I admire Casey for making the comment, its good to see someone try and play mind games with Rossi. However, the comment itself doesnt really hold much water when you consider how many times Stoner binned it last year on the very bike Rossi is riding, its just unfortunate the Casey was caught up in the whole thing. + noone needs to be reminded of Rossi's past achievments...certainly not Casey.

One thing I don't think people think about is not only language but culture/colloquialism.

In Australia, saying someone 'ran out of talent' and the like, is a very common motorsport expression (I reckon you nearly hear it during every v8 supercar broadcast) and as such Stoner's comments are simply funny to Australians rather than really offensive (ie. everyone I know went to work afterwards and laughed about what he said). After reading some comments on what Stoner said, I get the impression that this saying is not as common/funny in other English speaking areas and obviously wouldn't be the same in Italian.

Thanks for that. And no its not common in the U.S. but I do plan to use it next time a guy takes me out in a race.

without reading too much into every word or gesture that Casey does, I can say that after such

a disappointing result through not of his fault he can display whichever body language or verbal language

for that matter, you have to let out some steam after such a blow

when i was watching rossi walk over to Casey's pit and saw Casey's reaction, he seemed cordial and i was really impressed. then i heard what he said. oh well. that's Casey. I understand he's upset but golly gee, take that weak stuff to the park where maybe the squirrels will care. shoulder, ambition, talent smack? good grief!

1st post since I got back from Jerez.

Rossi went for the pass but he went in a lil too hot.

Hit the brakes a lil too hot & the front end went from under him.

Its unfortunate that Stoner was caught up in Rossi going down on his arse.

And IMO his comment to rossi which Ive only just heard first hand was just a bit of a gripe with no malice.

Jeez anyone taken out in a race is gonna be pissed if the taker outer is going in too hot.

Exactly.

OK SO the second meeting of the MotoGP season calendar is past us, and now all that we, and I'm sure a'lot of very Hungry people can do IS just wait almost an entire month for Portugal! But one thing is for sure- there is some speed in the Rossi+ducati combination BUT at what cost??

YES I know that it wasn't a dry race and perhaps the outcome would have been completely different if it were, but first of all in my book

if you can pull it off on the wet then you can do it in just about every situation and second-- you know what they say..... would have

could have should have.

NOW.... my question to you is: what exactly do you think was it that made Rossi be sooooo impatient that

he had to go for that move on Casey at that particular moment even though he was way too far to make

it stick in these condition????

do you think it has anything to do with wanting to show Casey- "hey" "Im right here and Im on a ducati going fast"

do you think it has anything to do with Simoncelli flying to the front

or perhaps he was just being himself

......

I think Aussies are are a bunch of ......' ..... whiners!
