AMA SBK Testing

The AMA series wrapped up a two day test at California Speedway in Fontana, California. Leading the way was... You guessed it, Mat Mladin. Mladin was followed by none other than the 155 of Ben Bostrom. Bostrom went on to say that the track is very point and shoot which suits the sheer horsepower of the four cylinders which is evident by Neil Hodgson's time which put him behind both Hayden Kawasaki's. The times are as follows:

1 Mat Mladin American Suzuki Suzuki GSX-R1000 1:24.448
2 Ben Bostrom Ducati Austin Ducati 999R 1:24.983
3 Jake Zemke American Honda Honda CBR1000RR 1:25.118
4 Roger Lee Hayden Kawasaki Kawasaki ZX-10RR 1:25.417
5 Tommy Hayden Kawasaki Kawasaki ZX-10RR 1:25.618
6 Neil Hodgson Ducati Austin Ducati 999 1:25.825
7 Miguel Duhamel American Honda Honda CBR1000RR 1:26.451
8 Jason Pridmore Jordan Racing Suzuki GSX-R1000 1:26.951

Times for Supersport, Superstock and Formula Xtreme are sketchy but what is known is Jason DiSalvo clocked a 1:25.583 on his Superstock spec R1, quick enough for 5th overall in SBK. He also went blindingly fast on his FX spec R6 at 1:25.971 clicks, faster than factory Honda CBR1kRR pilot Miguell Duhamel. The rest of the FX class is said to be circulating in the mid 1:27's.

Wondering why Mladin's fellow American Suzuki teammates aren't on the time sheets? Aaron Yates had a big get off on Tuesday which left him with a fractured shoulder. Ben Spies spent much of his final day aboard his GSXR600.

Nice to see some Ninja 10's doing well somwhere....

I'm planning on following AMA this season.
Can I get some help, anyone?

Hey, Ooost, here's a random question: how come AMA racers can have 3 digit numbers?

My best guess is because there are so many riders apart of AMA Pro Racing so they need to use the three digit numbers to accomodate all.

just go to AMASuperbike.com, cycle news online, roadracing world magazine or roadracerX. should be able to keep up dated no problems.

Also check out www.superbikeplanet.com, in my opinion they have the most in depth coverage of the AMA series. All the latest news, interviews, times and stories including feature articles by Mat Mladin and Roger Hayden. I check it out everyday.
