Just got back from Fontana.

Wow, this was a great round (except for one thing). Anybody here still think Martin Cardenas is not reckless? The guy is a danger to all the other riders. Plus he's an arrogant, selfish, out-of-control ........ But hey, there is zero regulation of this conduct in this sport, encouraged and accepted by all who discount reckless conduct and chalk it up to mere "racing incidents", so he will continue to get away with it.

Gets off soup box

Great racing all weekend (except for...^)

Superbikes--the Suzuki cup continues, but at least this time it was exciting.

Superbike Race 1: Ben Spies found his nut sack and has made me a mild fan. Nice payback from Ben from that pass Matt made on him at the end of straight where he cut off Spies with that Nascarish move. The payback pass he made on Mladin that flustered him to run of track has been on a continuous loop my computer. The hand in the air by Matt in protest was hilarious. Nice of Spies to let him catch up and check if his teammate was ok, then proceed in smoking him the rest of the race.

Superbike Race 2: Ben Spies had the heart of a champ to fight off the attempts of Mladin to escape. Please, if you have this race on TVo, go and look at Ben's last lap effort--not the draft at the end, but the beginning of the last lap, where he goes super late on brakes in turn 2, 3, & 4. Check out his tires smoking coming out of the corners, and see the distance he makes up on Mladin. Look carefully at the late braking and backed in rear of Ben at the end of the back straight again (the same corner where Matt ran off in race one). Wow, if that doesn't impress you, you may want to check your pulse. My not so good friend (a Mladin fan) said it came down to the draft, but I disagree, Ben had a much better drive out of the last corner, and that is what was the difference in the race to me. .011 Excellent.

(Oh, almost forgot, did anybody catch Mladin immediately start looking at his rear tire for excuses? Haha, maybe he's been reading Babel's rants about tires deciding races and started looking for answers, but then again, maybe he was looking for marks on his ... from that asswhooping he got from Spies. haha.)

BTW, did anybody catch the post race interview: Spies-gracious Mladin: words and face expression, opposite, his sulking expression speak much loader than his fake ... words.

Nice podiums for Tommy Hayden, he finally in coming into his own, a string of podiums and now we get deprived from seeing his talent thanks to that amphibian-....-bird Martin 'Hayden-scud' Cardenas.

Superstock: Jake Holden, what a great effort. Nice to see a Honda in the mix amongst an ocean of Suzukis. Privateer kicks the ... of a Quasi/Proxy-factory Suzuki that is Jordan
Team. I appreciate and respect Jordan’s team, but nice to see Holden do the business on the track.

Supersport: Best race of the weekend. Congrats to Ben Bostrom. He would have had a perfect season had it not been for that lap rider debacle in round 2 (Barber). But he again showed his metal. I personally was rooting for Jake Zemke, but B Boz is on fire. Great push at the end. Josh Herrin again provided great close racing until he ran to hot and wide. The kid is still learning, but will be a force to be reckoned with. Josh Hayes got a terrible start, made up ground but was never a contender. Whats going on, is he injured from last rounds grass tumble?

Oh yeah, does anybody think Honda ...... up by letting Zemke go and keeping Duhamel? I like the guy, but he's gotta go.

Formula Extreme: .... Speed TV, gotta wait for analysis (only saw it live).

Final thoughts: Please God, make Gregg White a mute!

good analysis jumkie i agree with all of it. i have to say that even tho superbike is very predictable in the sense of it's gonna be yosh bikes on the box all season long, to see spies put it to mladin this weekend was brilliant! especially race #2. that last lap that spies put in was fantastic & for the 1st time in quite awhile had me screamin at the tv! the ss race was excellent as usual & i think is only gonna get better when josh hayes gets it going. thanks to speed tho i won't get to see fx or superstock along with race 2 & wss action till frickin ...... tuesday again!!!!

god damn speed!!!

Good stuff Jumkie. I am amazed that Greg White had his own show. The guy has no talent at all, has the vocabulary of my 21 month old son, and he looks like a caveman. It makes you wonder, he must have an uncle working for speed, or he is dating a female executive.

I have not seen the races (will probably get them on replay in a couple of weeks) and I am no great mladin fan, but the guy just flat-out hates losing, and in a way it is a compliment to spies if he didn't hide that he was pissed off, having given it his best shot. You also have to have a (perhaps twisted) admiration for him still having such a passion for winning at this stage in his career. If he tried to blame his tyres this is less admirable.

Superbike Race 1
I actually thought it might be a race for a while there until Ben checked out.
This class does so few passing that I think Spies forgot how to.
Race 2
While Mladin was checking out of this race I was as well. I fowarded to the last lap and was shocked to see Spies reeled him in. That last lap Spies ran was great.
I think Ben got the better drive out of the last turn. If you look at the replay he had the bike sideways and the tire smoking . I thought to myself "Damn Remember when MotoGP bikes could do that". Good ..... Great win. I'm going to have to watch the last 5 laps again.

SuperSport
I don't know what happened to Josh Hayes as well. He's been off the pace for 2 weeks now and the announcers havn't said .... about him.
I'm a bit dissapointed in Chaz Davies so far. I really thought he would be a frontrunner in this class.
Good job for Zemke. Honda defenitely ...... him over keeping Miguel and Hiring Hodgson.
Hodgson has ran wide in almost every race he has been in this year. The 2nd superbike race he ran wide twice. No wonder why he won't enter his home race ( Isle of Man) . He'd be roadkill quickly.
Herrins pass once again was Balls Out. It didn't work but I love to watch him try

I havn't found the inclination to watch FX or Superstock yet this year.

Johnny, you are missing out on some of the best racing. FX (600 superbikes) was the best race of the round! And Superstock was excellent. Watch it (hopefully you TVod it yesterday).

I alread talked about Superstock in my first post. It was a first win ever for Honda (yup, 1st win in the history of Superstock AMA racing, so I can see why you haven't watched it in the past since it was a Suzuki cup). But please, do yourself a favor, Jake Holden puts in the performance of his life. One Honda against an ocean of Suzukis.

Formula Extreme (600 Superbikes--that what they are in reality): Wow, now this was the best race of the series this weekend! Jake Zemke, Josh Hayes, and Larry Pedgram. Zemke & Hayes traded body blows & lead changes the entire race down to the .08 photo finish. It was like B.Boz & Herrin at Daytona. It was that close. Watch it buddy, you'll thank me later.

I forgot Zemke was in that series. Him and Hayes on equal bikes has got to be good. ( They both should be on Honda's Superbikes)

I've obviously been judging both of those series by their recent past.
Thanks for the heads up. I'll watch them now.

Finally got to see all of the action.

Yey for Spies. Glad to see him back in form. Supersport was as crazy as always.

The real gems though were FX and Superstock.

Zemke and Hayes put on a real show in the FX race. I was really glad to see Hayes could stay on the bike this weekend.

The superstock was my fave though. Holden doesn't have many race wins, and he was barely in front of Yates who had been faster in qualifying. Great last lap pass by Yates then pass back by Holden. Holden notches Honda's first win in the class. Nice work by Holden.

I really hope FX and superstock are the classes that stay.

I could live without superbike and I would miss supersport but I know the AMA can't continue to sanction so many different classes.
