All my Moto GP crap is for sale!...T-shirts, Vids, toys...ANY and ALL OF IT!
<

After FINALLY catching the SBK races at Valencia....
(thanks Speed Channel for the prompt coverage,
<
you ....... ........)

I have decided to sell all my Moto GP crap of the 800cc era....AND replace it with SBK stuff
<

It makes me sad to say it...but its true...SBK is sooooo much better racing ever since the change from 990s to 800s.

As a rider and track enthusiast, Moto GP has become unidentifiable to me....in the "old days" the 500s were identifiable with the biggest baddest bikes of the day....Suzuki RG500, Yamaha RZ500, Kawi H1s H2s, etc etc...ALL ANIMALS OF BIKES...

When the 2 strokes got dated, they were replaced by the ALL MIGHTY 990....also a machine i could relate to...Yamaha R1, Honda RR1000, Kawi ZX10, etc etc....all bikes that were WAY more than the average rider could handle, let alone push to the limit.....like our beloved Moto GP machines once were.....It's no longer the spectacle it once was....It no longer has machines that are un-tamable by mere mortals....it's become too tame...too lame....and its a shame....

I will no longer support the sport till the sport becomes a MANS sport once again....not a kids pocket bike parade.....
<

I don't expect YOU children to understand what i'm talking about...it's more for use grown folks....that being said....children outside so the big boys can talk style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/.....gif

I didn't buy any "Moto GP crap of the 800cc era" so I can't flog it, but I agree with the sentiment.

You are however, as Frosty said, fishing.

we could talk of how exciting the Moto GP races have been...BUT OH WAIT they haven't been!

Didn't that Noodle-dude put up a post similar to this recently? But honestly I can relate with you Curve, I enjoy watching the WSBK races much more then Moto GP, from a racing spectator's point of view. Having 2 races back to back on a weekend (when Speed doesn't ... it up) is great, and the racing action is excellent this year. However I still enjoy all the hype and build up to a Moto GP race, even though I know the chances are someone will make a run away of the race after the first 3 laps or so.

WSBK is close racing due to a control tire, running factory bikes, and having a lot of experienced riders. Also the racing I believe is better in WSBK because the riders don't have as much pressure on them as in GP. Having 2 races a weekend also lessens the pressure, as they know if the mess up in race 1 they still have race 2. When you watch guys like Haga, Checha and Biaggi push the hell out of their machines, its exciting. Granted they can crash occasionally but not because they missed a corner, but rather because they were racing their balls off. Due to Moto GP's "prototype" nature, there are not as many rules to balance things out and make the racing closer.

So what's going to make GP racing closer and more exciting? Some say bring back 500's, some say 990's, some say lose the TC, some say control tire, some are just fine so long as Rossi or their favorite is winning, etc etc. I say stick it out man, this is only the 2nd year of the 800s, I hope we are in for some closer racing.

Careless Chukka may have been deliberately adding to the WSBK spice to show up the 800s though...

Maybe beside the point, but how how would checa or haga go in motogp on a factory honda, yamaha or ducati? Alternatively, how would rossi, lorenzo, pedrosa or stoner go on bayliss's ducati?

if GP sticks to these POS 800s they need to change some rules...no TC, No fuel limit, and a combined rider bike weight limit to make it fair for the "normal" sized guys.

I agree with TC and weight limit.

Does that imply that you disagree with removing the fuel limit then. It is what is causing some of the most intrusive electronics aids.

"TC" can stay for me, just revert to wired throttle, remove the fuel limits and get rid of the ability of the bike to know where it is on the circuit.

I find it ideologically attractive that at least some of the technical effort in motogp is devoted to improving fuel economy. I suspect that is why they have the rule. Given the problems the ideological approach causes in general as per other current threads, you may have a point
<
.

I have no problem with them getting rid of tc if it is technically feasible, but I agree with you and have previously agreed with you that it is of paramount importance that the rider should retain the responsibility for determining which corner he is negotiating and deciding the appropriate throttle input.

Normal sized people are doing just fine.

Rossi's normal sized, as is Hayden and JT.

Boy thats a hard one ..... in some countries "obese" is the norm
<
<
<

And ..... leathers are pretty tight ...... there would need to be some rule as to how offensive the "larger" rider looked ...... like when all the fat cops around here were wearing lycra on their bicycles
<

<

Just how "normal" a sized guy are you anyway?

How about the ideological stance on obesity to then
<

Wasn't there a bike called a Morbidelli a few years back? .... they could make a comeback with a new model .... the Morbidelli Obese ....... for the "really normal" rider
