I can't remember when but a while back a question came up as to where Alex Hofmann came from and how did he get the Kawasaki MotoGP ride. I was looking around the Red Bull USGP official site and it had rider information for all the riders. Turns out he was German and European 250 Champion in the later 90s and became a substitute rider in World Superbike. In doing that he did some substitute work for Eckl Kawasaki and developed a relationship with Harold Eckl and became a development and test rider to Kawasaki MotoGP and earned wild card rides in 2002 and 2003 before becoming a regular rider for the team in 2004. Just thought you guys might want to know.
