and in the days of solid tyres ( well pretty much) and next to no thought given to safety whether it be kit or tracks
all the racers from that era are hero's imo9,whether they won a championship or not

Well it was kinda funny when Son of Doohan stole the thread title for satirical purposes, but now its getting ridiculous.

To answer your question, I think Ago doesn't get much play here because the only one still alive that actually witnessed him race is Jesus--and he doesn't have time to be posting on this site. (He's too busy telling our president what to do, this according to the president).

Honestly i now think that Rossi will never be able to surpass Ago as the greatest of all time.

So that's who took over for Ted Haggard.

Agreed. I do think if Rossi stays in MotoGP for 3-4 years, he will take the all time win record. But one thing Rossi never did, was win titles in two series in the same year. Agostini did that a few times.

Well according to the list provided he won double titles 4 times in 500cc and 350cc, as well as winning the 1972 500cc title twice.

Hey Jumkie I thought we concluded that Jesus was busy racing in the AMA East Coast Lites Supercross division

Ahemmm... I watched Ago race with my own eyes several times and even shook his hand but never met your president
<

This is only because I began watching races before I was 8 years old - anyway Ago was great but for many years he was racing with a MV Agusta 3-cylinders against privateers on Norton Manx single-cylinder motorcycles, due to the withdrawal from racing of all the major manufacturers. So his record is not as significant as Doohan's or Rossi's.
This said, he could beat anybody on a good day, and he did win many races against all the strongest riders of his era. But ONE (...yes, Jarno Saarinen!

Haha. Well in his defense, Ted is now busy counseling the likes of Mark Foley, Larry Craig, and Elliot Spitzer. (All prominent political moral leaders who prosecuted, vilified, incarcerated, and spoke against the vises of “dubious” ... practices but were caught in ... scandals themselves).

For those who don’t get the joke, Ted Haggard was a prominent married Christian preacher who had influence and access to the White House, as a spiritual counselor of sorts. Who incidentally was a strong "moral" voice, especially an outspoken critic of the "scourge" of homosexuality and for the preservation of the "sanctity of marriage". As fate would have it, he got busted having relations with a male prostitute who fell in love with him, and outted him (perhaps hoping they could run happily away with eachother). But being the good Christian that he is, he asked for forgiveness (which I don’t have a problem with) and then announced that through some spiritual intervention, we was “cured” of his homosexual tendencies. The .... about it is he sill has a large "Christian" following. Amazing!

Hahaha and don't forget that he bought meth and claimed he never took it. :cough: ....... :cough: Its kind of ironic but I am begining to not trust a lot of these religous folks. I mean look at all the scandals that these people are running. Next thing we will find out is that Billy Graham is a animal humping ..... Well he was born on a dairy

Yes Jesus was around then too ..... only we thought he was actually a Rossi fan ..... well hyperthetically he was .... he would allways be on about the ....... wrath of .... blah blah ... and foretold of the second coming of Ago ... in the form of a young samaritan on a Roman horse ... ( whatever that meant
<
) .......

he also would say: "beware the beast ... there will be a time of false Propecy whereby the bikes have 2 not 4, but 2 strokes .... he foretold that the true messiah would not sway between these 2 and 4 strokes but would be pure ... and carry out his deeds on but one stroke ..... and that he would have the face of the innocent, .......and would have white teeth ( "not as white as Hoppers though" ... he would say ) and lots of them,........ and "he shall have his path lit whilst riding to victory in the desert ",......... and that "he shall marry an "angel"
<
<
( the winks were actually not spoken but actual winks ... whatever he meant by that?) " ........ and that his path to glory shall be a difficult one,........ and that there shall be many disbelievers, in the followers of a certain "pontious the Piloti" .... etc etc etc.

Yep. Ole Ted was a pathetic homophobe; he turned out to be self-hating too! The sad thing is that people like this are so brainwashed that they see a need for counseling...as if they're sick. Even though I tend to be liberal, I feel sorry for Craig, Haggard et al because our society makes them feel like criminal sickos. The general public is too busy being disgusted with what they did instead of asking why they did it.

Ago is definitely better looking than Rossi, but who isn't! I agree tha Agostini was (is) one of the greatest.
