Before last season, I was curious to see how long he could hold out and dice it among the front runners. However, it was clear last season that he is fading, despite all his complaining about his machinery.

old fart seat warming any other rider with these recent results 2018-2019 etc would be gone

Don't mind him being there really [emoji2369]
Pretty impressive how fast he still is after so many years.
He's moving from the factory seat next year so I don't see what there is to whinge about tbh.

The parochial rider based enmity amongst fans is pretty bloody tedious imo and leads me to support him more despite disagreeing with some past machinations.

So . . . that means it's more important be a contrarian, than to have a reasoned opinion? :p

Seriously, Rossi brings this on himself.

I have mellowed on Rossi now he isn’t unleashing the extreme element of his fanbase, imposing his preference on the Yamaha young chargers and attempting to use his influence to manipulate matters off track in regard to tires etc.

I think FQ will have his chance this year regardless of being on an official factory bike, I suspect Yamaha thought pre-season it was at least a year too early for him anyway, and I applaud them for taking the decision to back MV fully in advance of the season. I am actually more critical of Rossi continuing with Petronas Yamaha at age 42, particularly if they had other plans for the seat, I really can’t see the point of that at all.

No it just means animosity toward riders based on a set parochial position becomes tiring.
Reasoned opinions are more interesting than bashing based on dislike only.
I don't expect it to stop, just an expression of opinion and some reasoning behind it :)

It's all good. I guess it's a question of who gets to say whose antipathy is based on disapproval of Rossi's behaviors and whose disapproval is just dogmatic tribal parroting of a party line. There have always been a few people on the forum at any time, who hated Stoner for no reason but for his having made Rossi look bad by comparison. There was much tribal hatred for Dani Pedrosa here, following the 2006 incident where he knocked down Nicky, that got blown all out of proportion and dragged on for years. Sportsfans do tend toward that tribal mindset.

The concrete reasons for antipathy toward Rossi have been discussed to death on this forum, always exacerbated by needless intrusive troll attacks from mindless Rossi fans dropping in .... on this forum, blatting on about how great their hero is. It's a can of worms that need not be re-opened.

Yeah it's everywhere. Just a bit over it I guess.
