Good to meet y'all! I'm Craig Roberts, a longtime rider but new owner of a BMW S1000RR. To give you an idea of my veteran status, my first real "sport bike" was a nearly new 1968 Triumph T100 Daytona -- the T100 model name denoting the fact (in the marketing department's opinion, anyway) that the little 500cc machine could "top the ton." It did, but not very steadily. I graduated from the Trumpet to a 1972 snortin' Norton Commando Combat (so you know it was a serious speedster), then through a series of Ducs and an MV (a restoration project), a couple of late model "fast" Beemers and, finally, the new RR - the best bike I have ever ridden.
My day job is that of media marketing manager at The American Legion's national HQ down on K Street in DC, so, I'm part of the yawning press corps at the Capitol and White House. My real passion, however, is motorsports journalism and I freelance as a motojourno for various publications -- mostly in the UK (where I used to live). It doesn't pay much as a part time gig, but it sure is fun. My working vacation this year will be in Mugello for the MotoGP in about six weeks. if I'm lucky, sellng my resulting words and pictures will cover half the airfare -- but, who cares? Is anyone else going to Italy in June?
Anyway, I'm glad I found the group and look forward to chatting with you.
