They're already about 20hp down on the field and the gearbox they developed is now illegal. It would be great to see a new bike on the grid but I get the feeling it will be yet another bike that never quite made it all the way. Another story of Ilmor or MotoCysz. Too much money and not enough stability in the rules. And Dorna wonder why they can't get new bikes on the grid.

The bike uses a hydraulically-actived semi-automatic six speed gearbox, but hydraulically controlled clutches were banned at a meeting of the Grand Prix Commission ealier this year.

fixed it for you!

Its allowed to be 17 lbs lighter than a 4cyl. So 200 rwhp is competitive.

Ahhhh, apologies. Thanks for clarifying.

Well, it's not exactly a semiautomatic gearbox if it can't operate the clutch, so it might be more of a clarification of words than of fact. The announced delay of the shakedown test points towards a hydraulically-activated clutch being part of their powertrain. You likely lose much of the point of such a transmission if you don't have a hydraulic (or otherwise automatically actuated) clutch.

Sounds good, but I can't help thinking they'll just go the same way as Ilmor did.

Thank you. I think I've been told this seven or eight times now. I'll try to remember this time.

Mastodon's right though.

I have the engine pic as my background. I'd love this team to join up.
