It's still early to make this thread but I wanted to post this piece of news and found no suitable thread for it:

Thought not yet officially confirmed by the VR46 team, initial reports from Italian news site GPOne now confirmed by The Race's sources suggest Bezzecchi crashed while training at Rossi’s flat track circuit on Saturday afternoon, during a session that's a weekly tradition for all of the VR46 Academy riders when not at a race. He is due to have surgery on Sunday.

Might be just my impression but it seems like injuries at the VR46 ranch are kind of frequent. I think Morbidelli got his career derailing injury in similar conditions? and Rossi himself too in one of his later years. A shame that a three way fight for the championship becomes reduced to two options in anti-climatic manner.

I would've considered his title chance to be pretty slim anyway but this obviously sucks for Marco. With three back-to-back races coming up I'll be surprised if he misses only one.
Can we just see one race with all 22 full-time riders?

What are they doing mucking around there during the season anyway ?. My prejudices may be showing but perhaps more about Rossi than them.

Pecco misses the entry for Q2. His pace has been all over the place, feeling nervous?

Aprilias and Martín have been the strongest so far. Marc has been solid putting the Honda in the top 10. Mir keeps trying but every time he asks too much from the bike he crashes. Binder showing nice speed too.

A lot going on in practice this weekend. Aprilia back at the sharp end, supposedly because the resurfaced track has modest grip and is not fully rubbered in. Pecco is struggling. Riders touring in bad spots, missing the Turn 11 apex by a country mile and target fixating on other riders. Somehow the magnitude of late-session local yellows has not dissuaded the riders from attempting to turn their best lap at the last possible second.

Happy to see Aprilia in the mix. A bit confused by KTM. I guess the enduring legacy of the 2023 season will be arguing about who had the second best bike?

Espargero looks fast..But i won't put him in my fantasy. Burned too many times. I'll opt for a banged up jet-lagged Bez
or maybe Binder instead

Mir towing behind Bagnaia. Is that what pissed him off ? Besides not getting in the top 2.

He's eye balling Mir again

Martin's pass on Marini was from a long way back.
The Beast didn't let Pecco through for an extra point. I am guessing those two aren't great mates.

Saturday's over. What looked like a track in where the Aprilias seemed strong and the Ducatis less strong, the sprint turned all that upside down. Surprised there were only two crashes after the absolute crashfest that was the qualification. Martín could've settled for less but he took over the championship lead in style, with bold moves to win his sixth race of the last seven. He's the man of the moment, no doubt. In stark contrast stands Bagnaia, he was feeling bullish before the GP started warning he was back to his 100% physical wise, but has shown very little so far with lots of problems during the entire weekend and his teammate has looked faster for the first time in the entire season. Pecco needs to figure out something for tomorrow as Jorge is too emboldened and resolute right now.

Also the riders look knackered and it has only been the sprint. Let's hope it doesn't turn into another India for the riders tomorrow.

Clearly no team orders so Bastainini was racing in accordance with his contract

When was the last time a satellite rider was leading the world championship so late in the season?

Perhaps not. His pitboard clearly showed him who was behind him and by how far. Given his title hopes are non existent and Pecco has them, it made clear sense to slow and let him past.
Not friends at best it appears.

Yeah, both tracks should be cut from the season. Both are crap facilities. Was there what? - a couple hundred people in the stands? Total ....-hole.

I hate penalties but if what Asparagus did to BB33 isn't a penalty then what is? Kicking and apex dive bombing are ok in dorna's book. Got it.
I thought the same thing. We have seen double long laps for similar moves this season.

Agreed. That pass was a pipe dream from the jump especially after all the low sides happening so early in the turns. No way in hell he was making that turn. And isn't Aleix quick to criticize others for making such ambitious moves?

Martin is on another planet at the moment but big kudos to the VR 46 boys for outstanding rides.

Who's behind you and by how far is standard pit board communication. I'm surprised he wasn't asked to yield

I'd hate to be an official who decides on penalties, hopefully they will learn and become more consistent
