Why is Josh Hayes even racing?

And why in Supersport?

It was time to move on years ago.

Respect to the guy and his accomplishments. I sometimes find it hard to move on as well.

Curious to see if DP and the Duc have anything more in race 2.

Yeah it will be interesting to see what Ducati can do today and for the season. It seems like they are developing the bike more with Petrux to see how much kit will be required to compete in MotoAmerica. Last year Baz didn’t have the proper fuel cell. Petrux has it, and some other parts from WSBK.

I’m sure Ducati want about 2-3 customer bikes in MotoAmerica

Gagne did the double, which was critical for his championship hopes heading into Road America. Ducati will be lightning down those long straights.

At the finish line during SBK Race 2, Petrux went down off camera. When camera switched back to Petrux he was walking around so the assumption was that he pushed too hard and went on a wild ride through the grass.

Based upon Danilo’s Instagram it looks like he actually got banged up, and he’s having a go at AMA marshals. We’ll see what happens.

Not instagram savvy either, but his posts were re-tweeted and appeared in the social media panes on a couple of websites.

Petrucci got some serious friction burns, along with 5 stitches to close a laceration on this ankle and some contusions to legs and torso. No broken bones, IIRC.

I'm not sure what happened because the live feed didn't show the accident, but he finished .020 behind Scholz, and a backmarker was just in front of them. Petrucci says he took avoiding action, and went off track.

Not sure if MotoAmerica dropped the ball or if Petrucci was lying in the danger zone as people raced across the finish. The front straight at VIR is spectacular and scary. Similar to the blind left at the end of Laguna Seca's front straight. If you crash, no one can see you or the rescue vehicles.

Road America isn't exactly the safest track, and it's much faster. Unclear if Petrucci will continue racing or if he's shaken enough to walk away.

Yeah, I watched the race and the end was almost surreal. I kinda find it hard to believe there is no footage. I'd like to hear from Gange... he seemed to be turned around to see who finished 2nd and saw the whole event.

Petrucci's outburst in Virginia Is Good for Everyone

I can see why people may have an interest in reminding Americans that they once complained bitterly about safety in Europe.

It's a fair point, but the circumstances aren't really comparable. In GP they were bouncing off of hay bales, armco and concrete walls. They would pull vehicles onto hot tracks.

Petrucci went for a tumble in the grass, and then walked away. Should they make the grass softer? The only immediate change I can imagine is to put a medical station on the outside of Turn 1 for guys who go way off track.

Petrucci has a point about safety, but the issue is primarily the track layout, not the medics he didn't need.
