Finished watching the last of the BSB Superbike races. BSB continues to be one of the best tickets in town. Round 3 was three races at Donnington, configured in the short track with the old hairpin.
BSB is dominated by the Yamahas and Kawasakis mainly, and this weekend was no different with Ray, Ryde, O'Halloran, Skinner and Jackson being the sole possessors of race winning or podium speed.
Tarran MacKenzi had a nice return to action. Nothing spectacular but he notched a top 10 in Race 2 and was racey in 3 before a safety car tightened the field.
Haslam had a frustrating weekend. The bike had pace, but a technical issue knocked him out of Race 1, and a huge highside in Race 3 ended his weekend. He collected the hapless Glenn Irwin, who also suffered a technical DNF in Race 2.
Sykes didn't factor at all, though he did give his fans and the Ducatisti as glimmer of hope by finishing 7th in Race 3.
Biggest winners: Jason O'Halloran became the fifth winner of this BSB season, and the Yams generally dominated the proceedings. Christian Iddon continues to be fast and consistent on a Suzuki with little or no support. Lee Jackson's consistent riding has also earned him 3rd in the championship heading into Knockhill.
Biggest Losers: Tommy Bridewell did not make an appearance. He was off camera and out of the races for nearly the entire weekend. The Irwin brothers had a rough time. Glenn's championship is in critical condition or perhaps already deceased. He's racing at the TT for the first time this year. Not sure if he'll be in the right headspace. We'll see. His brother Andrew had no pace. Josh Brooks continues to struggle. Ducati are in really bad shape overall this year.
Best moment: Haslam, Iddon, MacKenzie, and Skinner scrapping for 4th place when they got an unexpected visit from a late charging rider. Nice performance leading into the IOM TT.
