<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE<div class='quotemain'>On the level of support for satellite MotoGP teams in 2008:
The satellite machines for next year will be the final version of the factory machines for this year—the ones [that will be] at the Valencia GP.

With the machines we provide for the satellite teams, we’ll bring the performance up to the maximum before we provide to them, but we’ll concentrate on developing the factory machines. The machines the satellite teams use [will be] different from the factory machines. Basically, we are not thinking about the next level of the satellite machine. At the moment, we’re not thinking of [providing the satellite teams with the next version].

The only change is that now the policy is declared. This year they were all on 'same year's bikes' because a previous year's 800c did not exist, however they were NOT the same bikes anyway...!

Honda and Ducati are very much the same in this respect. Gibernau is the only one who got a good sat Honda because he happened to inherit it from Kato (his was a rather special satellite bike
<
). Gibernau's performance suddenly improved...

It is this kind of manipulation that disgusted Stoner when he was with Honda LCR. I'm afraid there is no remedy... A good rider has to find a factory bike if he wants a real chance to win, period... But for a first year in MotoGP, a satellite bike may be just fine.

this is why im surprised jt took the tech3 ride. interesting point about gibbers

this article was about honda, i read toseland has been promised some level of factory support.

This announcement is entirely predictable. Honda don't have the best bike, they can't overwhelm Rossi and Stoner with numbers, so everything has to be focused.

This announcement; however, is useless. It is fluff meant to make Pedrosa/Hayden happy. Why would Honda reveal publicly that their satellite bikes will suck? Now other teams can respond accordingly.

If Michelin don't have it next season, I'm almost certain factory parts will start trickling into the Gresini warehouse.

This year Melandri had support from HRC he had parts Toni didn't have despite being in the same team ... at least until he signed for Ducati.
<

Anyway I think the current bike HRC has it pretty good, they were .... at the the beggining of the season, but now it's working pretty well (Dani has 3 poles on a row) IMO with good tires that bike would be winning races, they have improved a lot. So if the satellite teams get this bike next year it'll be OK (as long as their tyres are good

yea he got parts earlier than Toni but not the repsol guys which he beat sometimes this season to show what a great rider he is.

they should have put this guy on a factory honda rather than loose him because i think its a big big mistake.

You`re missing something here people,Get a determined rider on any half decent machine and he will get results on it....he only has to have the desire!!!!

i read toseland has been promised some level of factory support.

He has said he's getting a factory bike and factory support in a couple of interviews I've seen, but after reading that article about the Hondas, maybe Toseland's and the manufacturer's idea of factory support are two different things.

I hope Toseland does well, it would be great to see a competitive Englishman in MotoGP.

Without Honda providing satellite bikes there wouldn't be much of a grid so we have to be thankful for that. A new guy getting on a satellite team really doesn't need the best bike out there for at least 2 years. Hardly anyone can challenge for the front right away there is just too much to get used to and to expect to come in and win probably doesn't enter their minds. So, it's a non issue.

And if the factory bikes aren't better then why be on a factory team? it is supposed to be the showcase for the manufacturer. Now the Repsol bike having a new killer engine, that is a problem (for a GSVR fan anyway). Already their factory bikes are very good. Add a decent motor and it will be quite a challenge next year for anyone to take the title with 10 wins. I'd say next year will be the closest racing we have ever seen.

well i think if he comes in and his results are quite bad then hes not gonna be given upgrades but if he proves he can run in the top 6 then he should get them.

He'll have alot to ride for next year and i really do want a world superbike rider to finally do it in Motogp.. Colin is quite fckin annoying.
