I've just been reading on Crash.Net about the GSE BSB team and the possibilty of them running Ducatis and replacing the d'Antin team next year. Call me a ....... but this is something I've never thought of before and I haven't heard it mentioned here either as far as I know. There won't be any 'last years bike' in 2007. For example whoever is on a Ducati will be on the lastest spec bike. I gota think about this for a while.

Ducati gave D`antin new bikes this year, so current bikes shouldn`t be a problem. But look what D`antin are doing with them. Caparossi`s winning races on the same bike and they`re struggling not to be last over the line. I mean they are a low budget team, and they dont have factory bikes, and Cardoso and Hofmann aren`t exactly championship contenders, but maybe this GSE mob could be a refreshing new start. Or they could always throw a Honda and make an army of satellite teams and have both D`antin and GSE.

D'Antin owns 2 entries on the grid, he could sell them to GSE, but if he doesn't want there's no way he is getting replaced by other team.

The bikes are 2006 specs, but not exactly the same as the Marlboro Ducati team. I you take a look at the top speeds you can see the D'Antin bikes are considerably slower than the nº1 team. And also more unreliable, remember Hoffman's blown engine.

There's also the Dunlop factor, Dunlop tires suck, look at what Ellison and Checa are doing with 2006 spec Yamahas.

And obviously Cardoso and Hoffman aren't the best riders out there.

So I think you can change the team as much as you want, but with crap riders, crap tires and 2nd rate bikes you're stuck at the back of the grid.

You're missing the point guys, next year every single bike in the grid will be brand new in every respect. For sure Honda will be supplying 'customer' bikes but all teams will have completely brand new machinery from the ground up. In effect every bike on the grid including the sattelite teams will be a factory bike. From the point of development I would think that every maunfacturer will be wanting to gather as much data as possible thus supplying every team with the same bike, it's an interesting scenario.

GSE have said they are not interested in going to MotoGP but having so many teams on new machinery should make things very interesting.

i'm wondering if they will all develop bikes from the ground up or just slip the new engines in the existing chasis? thats all they need do really. honda will probably do ground up, some of the others may not. will be intresting to see fer sure.

I don't think that's a good idea, the current chassis is built to withstand the forces of a 1000cc engine, it's probably too stiff for the 800cc and there would be extra space unused if you fit a 800cc in it.

The 800cc will be smaller so you can make a slimmer lighter chassis for it gaining a weight advantage and maybe an aerodynamic advantage.

Unless they drop their cylinder count to 3, all the grids machines will either be the same weight or heavier with the new restrictions

But like Teo said, D`antin`s Dukes are 2006 bikes, but they`re obviously not the same quality as the factory jobs. They`re less reliable and slower. Then again, theyre not on the same quality hoops, and engine failures happen.
