1098

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (Racejumkie @ Feb 11 2007, 06:55 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}><div class='quotemain'>Interesting. Legal or not, I want one in my garage.
Brilliant bike isn't it, how could anyone turn one down.

I attended the Ducati Open House this past weekend and the 1098 is unreal. Believe it or not it's even better in person! I am going to have to pick on up some time this year...My wife will be visiting the lawyer shortly after that...

I'll probably do what i did when the 999 came out. I'll not like it at first and then once i am used to it i wil fall in love. at the moment i think the 999 is beautiful and the new bike is not as attractive. And i am so fed up of underseat exhausts (unless its a two stroke stinger) they just look rubbish. And i have never been a fan of single sided swingarms.

This does not include the nr750 honda which is of course an amazing machine.

funny how trends change, i remember the first time i saw a 916,crowds gathered around to look at it,everybody drooled over the under seat zorst and single sided swingarm, now thats becoming old hat and it all going full circle

916's look pretty dull nowdays. Still kinda kool, and obviously a great bike. But its not the bike it used to be.

Another exception to my no underseat exhaust/single sided swingarm is of course the mv augusta f4 (more attractive than any ducati)

yeah F4 is pure ... on wheels, i saw one once i think it was an oro or something like that. was dripping in carbon fibre.

it would be a great shame if Ducati had needed to withdraw from racing and i hope that the powers that be see sense. there's too much financial burdon on such a relatively small outfit to continue the way things are going.

i sat on the 1098 at my local bike shop - and i can tell you, there's not much I wouldn't do to have one parked up in my garage.

It's like 996 meets the new triumph daytona, it's everything a ducati should be and I'm sure they'll sell as quick as they can make them.

Does that mean I can have one of the other ones? Remember, you can only ride one bike at once, man.

I'd turn it down for the financial equivalent in Japanese sportsbikes

Me too, i'd want a japanease four cylinder bike all the way, and if i must have a twin it'd be a honda rc51.

For riding around town, I'd prefer a air cooled Ducati, Tri-triple, or a motard single.

The track is where I'd most enjoy a jap-inline four.

Air cooled in town, man?
<
Maybe freeways and twisties, but I hated riding my old air cooled bike in town. Not enough airflow to keep it cool.

My dad has a M900 Monster, and a ST2 (liquid cooled). Other than the cooling, they both have the same engine, both put out the same amount of heat.

What I should have stated was, a two valve head to a four. They have great low end torque, and that for me is more fun around town then say my r6 that makes no power till about 8000 rpm.

I suppose, but engines ge real hot in slow traffic. I'd prefer a liquid cooled bike anyday.... unless the cooling system is broken

I probably shouldn't post this but our shop demo 1098 was snapped in half last week and burst into flames when the fuel tank hit the tree. Snapped frame, swingarm and crankcases. The rider broke his arm and leg but he'll live, well at least until my boss sees him!

Can I have one piece of the swing arm???

Once I saw a guy leaving a honda shop on a brand new 1000rr and dropped it before he got on the street.
