I had a feeling he'd do well because he'd impressed on the Suzuki MotoGP bike in a couple of wildcard appearances the year before and I'd watched his battles with Mladin(Mat was actually a hero of mine) but I never expected him to win the title at the first attempt. It's a shame how his career ultimately ended up though, brilliant rider.

I guess the bright side for Ducati is they don't have to pay enormous bonuses for unexpected success.
