Phillip Island

When Bautista took the lead I was thinking that was premature, why not sit behind Rea and preserve tires.
A little bit special. New bike, never raced before. A new rider in the class. Victory by 15 seconds.
Rea said Bautista is not stressing him a bit [during testing].

Edit: Davies looks rather pathetic at the moment.

Hmmm... Melandri dominated this meeting last year and ended up finishing 5th in the championship.

Bautista is a top class Moto GP rider who should still be in the premier class on a decent ride.

He always goes well at Philip Island, but I honestly think he's going to do amazingly well in WSB this year!

Rea after testing: Bautista is not stressing us a bit.
Rea after race 1: Second was the best we could hope for and I'm happy we achieved it.
A small contradiction here?

Davies has a long way to go. 27 seconds off teammate is just as bad as it looks like. Sure, he can shove off 15-20 seconds relatively easy, but then there is a mountain to climb.

More to come from Phillip Island. I'll be watching.

What's the injury situation like for Chaz?

AFAIK there is no complaining about injury.
Looking at other Ducatis I'd say it is Bautista who is winning, it is not like the bike is some sort of exceptional beast.
Rea said it is going to be different in "normal" tracks. What's "normal"?

OK, after reading all the interviews with Rea I'm staring to dislike the guy. He apparently thinks he is some sort of undisputed king of WSBK. He is bitter and he is showing it. Now I hope Bautista will ruffle his feathers in races to come.

PI is a pretty weird track. Fastest average speed on the GP calendar (other than the new glorified dragstrip known as the Red Bull Ring), and very few heavy braking zones.

Sprint race. Rea gave it all, he was right on the limit and gave up only when there was no hope left. Hats off.

Just happy to see Rea work a little harder - he’s enormously talented. That being said, I was a fan of Alvaro when he was in MotoGP so I was definitely happy with results today. Great race!
