It has been confirmed that Brit Leon Haslam along with former Champ Gregorio Lavilla of Spain will again partner each other for the 2007 BSB season for the Airwaves Ducati team for the 3rd successive year.

Haslam states that his decision to stay with the team is due to the success that he had experienced with the team last year.

He also added that coming 2nd in 2006 was a great personal acheivment, but will be aiming to go 1 better in the coming season.

Good on Leon I say, he is obviously comfortable with the team and bike and the championship. I will wish him luck for next year!

Where's Haslam going next year?

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE <div class='quotemain'>I've won five out of the last seven races and now I want to make it seven out of nine. I want to the leave the team and the Bennetts British Superbike series on a high and that's the aim.

Leon Haslam
Leon Haslam will be riding for the Stiggy Honda team in the World Superbike Championship next year having decided to graduate from the British series in which he is currently placed second overall with HM Plant Honda.

"It will be tough as they are a brand new team to the championship, having raced in World Supersport but I have done the majority of the tracks on which we will be racing so I am ready for the challenge," said 25 year old Derbyshire rider Haslam, adding "My heart wants me to back in World Championship racing."

Shane Byrne, who clinched the British title for the second time last Sunday, is also moving to the World stage along with third in the rankings Tom Sykes.

Shane Byrne
BRITISH Superbike champion Shane Byrne has signed for Sterilgarda Ducati for the 2009 World Superbike Championship.

Byrne picked up his second British Superbike crown with a second and third place finish at Silverstone last weekend and announced he was to move to the World Superbikes championship next season.

The Sheppey rider was one of three riders in the frame to replace Australian Troy Bayliss at Xerox Ducati but has announced he has chosen to ride for Sterilgarda Ducati.

The team, based in Italy, are one of the top outfits in the championship and had former Moto GP stars Max Biaggi and Ruben Xaus have been riding for them this season.

A delighted Byrne told Kent News: “I am delighted to have signed for Sterilgarda. Any team that has been running the likes of Biaggi and Xaus shows just how good an outfit they are.

“It all came about from a trip to the World superbike round at Vallelunga. Ducati were very keen to keep me on with one of their teams after my season at Airwaves Ducati and so I signed for them.”

Byrne’s only previous outing in the series came in 2003 as a wild card at Brands Hatch where he won both races. The challenge that lies ahead of him will be tough but Byrne is ready to give it 100 per cent.

He added: “There are some real top guys in this championship and it is becoming bigger and bigger. I will give it my all but I am not going to say I am going to win anything. I will have to see how it all goes.”
