Do world level motorcycle racers still use motorhomes?

I remember growing up and going to the world superbike and 500cc events and you'd see all the motorhomes parked in the paddock but there doesn't seem to be as many nowadays, I remember Stoner used to have a massive one with the Spidi logo written down the side of it.

Do they park them somewhere else now or do most of them live out of hotels?

Here's Rossi's dig.
Double slide, 5m x 12m
60 square meters of luxury accommodation.

Wow, I wonder who drives that to each race.

As you know, Sheene pioneered so much in this sport and was the first rider to actually start this trend by audaciously arriving in the paddock complete with caravan in tow.

In addition to his objections over the safety of the TT, it is well known that the main motivation behind his campaign to get the Island dropped from the GP calendar was the expense of transporting the caravan via Steam Packet who had the monopoly on the ferry crossing.

I take it they only use these in Europe then as it would cost a bit to ship it to Phillip Island or Texas.

Normally you can get a local dealer to supply a motorhome for the well known riders in lieu of some free advertising and perks for the weekend. A motorhome where someone famous resided for 3 days will make it more valuable in some peoples minds. Me, fuck you dude, its used, how much you coming off.

PI has poxy portacabins propped up on breezeblocks.

Still have the hordes of simpletons hanging around the one with 46 on the door.
And morons chasing after riders for signatures/photos, actual adult humans screaming and running when someone famous pops out the shitty portacabins.
And fuckstains hassling riders wandering up the sliproad from Honda corner after a crash.

Here's how it works.

Paul Sannen Motorhomes

Paul Sannen, the guy that was Colin Edwards' gopher, he's also Nick Sannen's dad, Nick is Nicky Hayden's gopher/assistant.

Paul has a multitude of motorhomes that he rents to the riders, the ones that don't have their own, and even the ones that have their own motorhomes, he usually moves them from circuit to circuit.
For riders that want their motorhomes moved in Europe, Paul does that.

When overseas, Paul rents motorhomes and sets them on the circuits for riders that wants them. For example in Laguna, all the motorhomes you see, Paul got it set up.
A few years back, I took one back to Oakland for him on Monday am.

Other riders like Rossi, he has his own and he has his own crew to move it.

Paul Sannen has monopoly in motorhome rentals in the paddock.

Cheers for that shovelhead, so the days of the riders driving them themselves and partying on the road trip are over then.

My 1988 Travelaire has gotten me to every race for the past 3 years. I love that old POS. Even though it caught fire coming home on the 401 one day.

I'd kill to have a big hauler like the real pros do!
