Lightning LS218 Electric Sportsbike

Would love to test ride one of these to experience that torque! I reckon it would pretty mindblowing to the average joe like myself.

That bike won an event at the Pikes Peak hill climb. One of its advantages with being electric was that it didn't lose hp at altitude as the air pressure dropped like the other bikes did.

Because it makes no noise it had to have a car alarm siren attached to the bike to alert spectators it was coming.

Mick D and The Burning Barber like this.

I have toyed around on a few electric bikes at shows, nothing near this powerful, but still that instant torque feel takes some getting use to. I have often thought about building an electric bike, I actually have a spare ducati chassis, would just need an electric motor.

I've a leccy scooter. Horrible thing. But kinda fun. No licence required. Probably like it because I received it gratis.
Lead- acid batteries under your feet. So it won't pull a wheelie. it will however, pull some entertaining skids locking up the rock hard rear tyre. 40km range in traffic.
Mate here has a lithium batteried scoot. Niu. Much more fun, though heavier.
The zero rpm torque is interesting. Pull away from traffic at the lights on a shitheap. But zero noise is like driving a Leaf/Volt (on leccy)/Tesla....impressive, but boringly uninvolving.

Electric motorbike makes historical ride

Came across this story today, first electric supercross bike competes against petrol engined bikes, and finishes 4th.

Quote:
Electric motorbikes have been in competition for a while now, but never in Supercross.

That all changed at the Red Bull Straight Rhythm straight-line Supercross race in the US.

The historical ride was made on an Alta motors electrical motorbike by former Yamaha rider Josh Hill.

It marked the first time an electric motorcycle competed in a professional Supercroos race.

Hill, on the yellow bike, showed his class by winning his quarter final against a bike running on petrol and claimed fourth spot in the semi final, ultimately missing out on a podium finish.

After the run, reps from Alta said they will be competing in flat track, motocross, and supermoto events whenever they can.

Even if the motorbike isn’t fit for racing, surely its enviro friendly motor will have greenies lining up to score one of these babies.
