So you're moving DeAngelis (and canepa) out of MotoGP, picking Pedro to finish 3rd again, dropping Sete's team and moving him to Pramac, and adding another Kwak seat?

The latest rumour I heard was regarding Total Oils, Tech 3, and Leon Haslam.
I heard that Total oils, formally known as Elf were looking to be a title sponser in MotoGP and are keen to sponsor Tech 3 due to the French connection being Tech 3 french team, and Elf french oil company.
Herve Poncharal can choose one rider, basically a open budget, but one of the two man team has to Leon Haslam as the French Oil firm arevery fond of the haslam family thanks to rocket Ron Haslam, and there delightfull past.
So Team would be known as Total Tech 3.
Make of that what you will.

We might call it 'silly' season, but please incorporate known facts:
Loris is out, but will guest ride to get 300 GP's.

Simoncelli wants to race in GP's, not WSBK. He's admitted that the Ducati is not suitable for him. So he can go to Yam, Honda, or Suzuki. He's Rossi's friend. Do the math.

Bautista wants a bike with Aspar. Whether that's Yamaha or Suzuki is unknown.

Livio is impatient and won't tolerate Hayden lagging behind Kallio.

Pedrosa has openly admitted that 'there may be other brands'

Melandri having a blast and probably wouldn't want to leave if he can even get modest factory support. Kawa have no reason to deny him this.

Lorenzo wants to be a #1 rider. Since he hasn't already re-signed with Yam, he's considering other options. If Honda get's it's bike issues fixed before contract time, they have the funds and desire to sign him.

Edwards wont be sacked if he keeps putting up numbers.

Randy is just beginning to show his potential.

Nobody expected anything from Cannepa. He's never raced any of these GP's.

JT already won WSBK, and probably does not want to go back just yet. Bradley Smith needs 3 more years and Moto2 is just around the corner.

Spies is 'not in a hurry' to leave WSBK.

CV is a well liked and respected rider who Suzuki rates higher than 2008 Ben Spies.

To late for Randy. The only thing he has going for himself is that he is the only french rider in the big boy class.

Nicolo can't possibly be there next year unless he gets decent results. He will be back to testing.

JT won't have a ride in GP since he pretty much is a waste nowadays. He divided his team and the better rider of the two is motivated to help get rid of him by bringing in....

Ben Spies who never really wanted to be in SBK. All he talked about in the interviews was GP this and GP that. HE even calls it his ultimate goal. If he is offered a ride with Tech he will be there will cowbells on.

As far as ducati goes, I can see Loris returning either to the factory or a sat team. MOst likely the latter since ducati wants youth as does any team for longevity.

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (yello13 @ May 4 2009, 03:54 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}><div class='quotemain'>Sounds good except they can't put simoncelli on marlboro due to the new rules. Kallio would have to slide up to hayden's spot and simoncelli onto pramac. Simoncelli could still get the factory support under a pramac fairing, with kallio being left out to dry with a factory livery on a satellite interior, which is such an obvious loophole on the rookie rule I wonder why dorna even bothered.

The rookie rule is not designed to keep rookies from riding factory equipment. The rule was designed to help satellite teams attract sponsors with top GP rookies.

Hate to be pedantic, but Total merged with Elf, they are both French companies. But you are right in that the name Elf is now redundant the company having been acquired/subsumed by Total.

Yeah, Elf had a rich history in motorsport sponsorship - in fact you'd know that Dion because I'm sure you used to have Jackie Stewart's Tyrrell as an av.

Leon back to GP, a Brit ride to keep Dorna happy, a shedload of sponsorship to boot....and being that I work for a subsidiary of Total (for now) possibility of free passes to Silverstone next year? It's all good!
