It is possible he was referring to manouevres involving the actual racetrack .

It was a hard pass, but I agree with the general consensus that it was within the boundaries of racing, if barely. Stoner said "we'll see" and has yet to back this up. If he does, I trust attitudes will be consistent.

(EDIT) I was not there and have not ever been to laguna, and I do accept if rossi was in the dirt because stoner forced him there by taking a line to which he was not entitled then stoner has absolutely no cause for complaint.

I'm confused. Isn't this incident just a corollary of the type of racing (passionate, close, aggressive, ragged-edge action) that we all get horny over?

It is. Just that some people see that particular manouvre as having been the turning point in Casey's championship chances and they just can't let it go.
If it had been, say, Elias making that pass on Rossi they'd have started a thread on here about how absolutely megafantasticallyorgasmatically cool the pass was.

Sure, the fact that rossi kept the bike upright at all was remarkable, and the whinging post -race was not becoming. As babel said though stoner didn't demonstrate much fear in the corkscrew pass itself, or in my view in the entire laguna seca race, unless you consider not allowing rossi to crash into him to be evidence of this; those invoking the rainey quotation would seem to me to be implying this.

BBoz was/is the master of the corkscrew, he gets bothered pretty frequently.

Another fanboy thread, thanks Curve. That was in no way a "pass". Somebody imbed a video. You will see Rossi make an attempt coming in WAAY to hot into the corner, CROSSES Stoner's line (Stoner stands up his bike) then Rossi tries to keep it on the track but goes into the dirt. As he exits the dirt he's out of control and AGAIN Stoner avoids Rossi from torpedoing him.

That is called a MISTAKE that didn't end in a CRASH thanks to Stoner avoiding an out of control desperate move!

I know you may love the guy, but in no way does a profession racer try ON PURPOSE to cross a line then go INTENTIONALLY into the gravel to make a "PASS".

Call it what it is and safe your credibility: A MISTAKE that just so happened to not end in a crash.

Stoner showed no fear despite the man he was racing with was clearly DESPERATE and was willing to endanger him and other riders. The debrief at the post race interview was nothing more than Casey stating the facts...Rossi was desperate. Its been called whining by Rossi fanboys, but how quickly they forget Rossi crying like a baby when Elias (who didn't even touch him in Turkey) put an ACTUAL racing "pass". Wow, now that is WHINNING!

(Whether or not it was "exciting" is not the question. It was, and I suspect it was because it didn't end in a crash. But this doesn't change the fact it was a MISTAKE.)

Is it Valentines Day in the rest of the world yet?
