I just remembered that Chaz broke his hand at the end of May. Probably that should be healed by Laguna though. And I think RL was also supposed to be back by Laguna.

I'm assuming they are not referring to passport as I believe RL Hayden has ruled himself out of his wildcard ride at Laguna (can anyone else attest to this?) and Hacking is technically a Brit. Either Chaz or Hacker should get the ride if Marco is still hanging on at Ducati.

Jamie Hacking is a US Citizen. A few months ago, SuperbikePlanet had an article on Jamie obtaining his citizenship. Besides, the boy has a North/South Carolina drawl that even I cannot fully 'understand the words that are coming out of his mouth'

Also, Jamie is injury-free.....and, he's had some rather inspiring results in SBK on the ZX10R, even beating Mladin/Yates/Hodgson for 2nd place in one of the Utah races.

IMHO, Mr. Hacking deserves the ride, should an 'American' rider be picked.

Hell, who else could they look at other than Chaz Davies.......Steve Rapp???

two things: Hacking is now officially a yank. He got his citizenship papers last year. Secondly,
Kawasaki stated not long after RL had his crash that they wouldn't run a 3rd bike at Laguna as they were having enough troubles with two bikes. That pretty much killed RL's wild card ride.

I thought the picture marijke posted of him parading in the open top car said it all; he looked like an extremely miserable human being. He has the talent, I hope he is somewhere better for him next year.
i agree 100%

Boy at the beginning of the year I really thought that with Marco's talent HE would have been the one to beat on the Ducati. It amazes me that he can't get along with the bike. I was really hoping for an Italian on an Italian bike to take the series. That is also why I was really hoping for Rossi to jump the ship at Yamaha and come over to the team.

I remember them stating this. But you are forgetting that they ruled out Hopkins as most unlikely for Laguna. It would be West and someone else, that is what the discussion is about.

Melandri is done. How would he turn it around in the next couple of races unless they made a huge find in the electronics of his bike

I asked on the other Melandri thread how many offs he had this season. I asked because this is telling many things. He obviously doesn't have the feel of the bike(I'm taking his word for it), but is he pushing it? Has he given up on pushing the bike? In comparison , Hopkins who probably feels the same way is taking the bike beyond its limit but also suffering the consequences. On another hand you look at Whorehay and see that he is riding beyond his ability, that is why he is making mistakes and paying the consequences. My guess is that he is not pushing hard enough. We know he has the ability. Many have given Stoner credit as totallly trusting in his machinery with a big ball sack. I think that Melandri needs to sack up and push the bike beyond its limit and see where it takes him. If it takes him into the gravel then we will know and I hope he comes out unhurt. If he improves then it was a good gamble.

^+1

maybe melandri needs to just trust the software for once and pin it. if it works, then happy days, problem solved, if it dont, then its back to situation normal. he has got nothing to lose after all.

i was just answering Doc 79 question on what happened to the RL Hayden wild card ride. So in the future maybe you want to read the whole thread before posting silly answers?
I am pretty well aware we are talking about the Hopper Kawa ride for Laguna. I brought up the bloody topic in the first place!

Duh...
