Well, what a ridiculous place to put a race track. Loads of room yes. But no fans.

Its definately a 'TV' GP.

I don't know much about the people in the location but it seems to me there is no motorsport heritage in the area unlike Spain, Italy, England, Holland or Japan. There just doesn't seem to be that passion for racing, I hope I don't sound like an opinionated or uninformed American but it just seems that way to me. I also read that last year's WEEKEND ATTENDANCE was just over 5,000. Yes, I said WEEKEND attendace. Three days, Thursday, Friday and Saturday. A combined total of 5,000 people showed up over those days. I wonder how long this event is going to last with so little support in the area.

well it's the tv ratings that matter so th'll be fine. we'll all be watching. just like bahrain, qatar is trying to show the world something by spending lots of money & building big expensive tracks in the desert. local people could probably give a rats ass about any kind of motor sport. most of the attendance at the gp's ( f1 included ) are american's & europeans who are stationed or working there. there is no motor sport heritage. it's just lots of oil $ with nothing better to spend it on.
