Letís face it; all of these guys are talented riders. A lot of chemistry comes into play for a rider to be successful. One of the reasons Rossi has been successful for so many years is the people he surrounds himself with, maybe West in his current situation hasn't found the right balance. It's sad to say, but over the years there probably have been more talented riders in the field to have never won a race or a championship because they could never get the right combination of people around them to hit that magic feeling both mechanically and mentally.
