Hmmm. There's a big long straight at Qatar eh?

Remember Stoner last year - Rossi leading for the bulk of the lap then Casey indicating, pullng out and blitzing that rattly old Yam?

So for me it's Stoner all the way - but mainly because of that long drag over the start finish line.

Unless Yamaha fit some headlights to the M1 and one of their pit crew finds the circuit's fuse box of course....

1. Rossi
2. Stoner
3. Vicious Repsol battle for third, I think Dani may come out ahead because I'm not convinced Michelin have improved the grip of their harder compounds, and I think the temperature will be mild.

I'm anticipating a lot of good battles mid-pack as new riders on new bikes change positions as they make minor mistakes.

Here in the States we have baseball, statistics are keep for almost everything to expose some patterns. One of which are comparisons between night games and day games for individual statistics. I think the most intriguing element of the season opener will be the racing under the light and how this may effect the individual riders. This makes the predictions even more fascinating, so here are mine:

Heart Says:

Hayden
Hopkins
Capirossi

Mind Says:
Hayden
Stoner
Rossi

Night Factor says:
Hayden
Toseland
Guintoli/DePuniet
Stoner/Rossi
One of the new 250 guys

RJ brings up an interesting point with the night race. I'm curious how many of these guys have raced under the lights? I know Nicky has done a lot of racing under the lights in his dirt track days. Anyone know who else has raced under lights?

Well here is what I'm thinking (I realize its all speculation, but I figure I might as well think of a some kind of reason for make a fair prediction).

As L8brake mentioned, Hayden has some experience racing under night-lights. The reason I put Toseland as second is because he has impressed me on his quick adaptation to the GP bike. Obviously this is only based on testing, but I can't help but think he has a strong learning curve for the unfamiliar. Which is why I put Guintoli/Depuniet up on my list for night factors. They seemed to thrive on a difficult race condition in last year's French round. So maybe it can transfer to an unfamiliar race condition under lights. I have Rossi/Stoner up there because they are just good, period. The 250 guys are a wild card.

You never know what might be a factor but i cant see the night racing affecting anyone good or bad.The company [ Musco Sports Lighting] supplies lighting for all kinds of sporting events, including Nascar and they all say the company does a wonderful job.The Nascar guys were afraid of glare at first but after running a few laps they said it was close to perfect.I guess in some scientific anomaly the manufactured daylight could somehow fuck with someones depth perception, but i doubt it.
