In the past Melandri has been up at the top often in moto gp through his career and he is still quite young.
Next year he has a massive oppurtunity with ducati. HOWEVER..

This year he has had some horrific crashes, injuries and bad luck.. is someone trying to tell him something?

On a bike with more speed, more power etc will it all end in tears?

There is a reason a bike is fast around a race track,it usually because its stable. So going faster doesnt have to mean you are risking more to do so.Actually it would be the opposite.Slow equals hard to ride, fast equals easier to ride and safer

I am not 100% certain with Melandri yet but do think that next year will be the year that answers the doubts I have.

I have no doubt that the guy is immensely talented as we have seen at times. But the doubt remains as we also see a number of 'poorer' performances at times that seem hard to explain away.

I see it either as an issue of the equipment or a mental flaw in terms of concentration but do lean towards the equipment side of things.

As for next year I woudl fully expect that he should be a top 5 runner in terms of championship position (and week in week out results). Although I do hope that the pressure of being an Italian riding an Italian bike does not distract him to much from the task at hand.

I would however expect him to win a few races across the year as his talent has already shown he can do that, it is the consistency he needs that will determine the success however.

marco has done didly squat in what 4 years of motogp. and he has too many rossi scars

and it will finally silence the Stoner doubter when casey anialates melandri. but melandri excuse will be he did not have the "magic" tires and bike like stoner though

Its his big chance, hes been waiting on a factory ride for so long. Now he will be able to compete with anyone.

Thats not to say he will be competitive from the beginning, he has to learn new bike, team and how to ride but give him a couple races before hes beating Stoner.

didly squat..........haha

I'm gonna pin this to the homepage if Melandri beats Casey in head to head next, which imo will happen on numerous occasions.

One thing for sure, its gonna be the best battle between teammates

Definately a win or two in the mix for Marco,he`s on an Italian bike which I would presume will have him grinning 24/7 in `08.

Koskal, when I look at your avatar, I can almost hear you say those very words

I think Melandri will go well on a factory Ducati, perhaps very well. As to if he can do it right from the start of the season, and with the consistancy of his team mate, I don't know, but definitely on paper, it all looks good. He has been getting upgrades ahead of Elias although his bike is nowhere near as developed as Hayden's/Pedrosa's so I suppose that makes his season so far a good one, all things considered. At the minute he's ahead of factory riders Hayden, Capirossi and Edwards in the title, on an undeniably sub standard Honda. No mean acievement, is it?

I'm looking forward to seeing how he goes.
