Do you think Barber ever had a chance?
I've read that it's a great track but too small.
Supposedly the superbikes barely get out of 4th gear.
I know Laguna is small as well but it's got so much character and history that it was a shoe in for the GP

It not only stood a chance,at one time people were saying it was a lock.Barber is actually a little bigger track than Laguna and a little faster and it features many elevation changes. It is a riders track, technical but a viewers delight. From the back strait you can see probaly 70% of the track. There was only a few minor changes that were already agreed on,mainly safety issue and it was a done deal. The motorcycling community would have loved the track and the on site Museum is a bike riders wet dream. But it was not meant to be.The WSB was like salt in the wound when they fucked that one up also
