I'd make him ride a 50cc scooter all the way to the next race. Lack of motivation!!! What about the Tech3 guys!!! I have lost all respect for this guy. He will not be racing anything next year IMO!!!

What type of racer does this?!!? The link is from MCN, but I count this story as truthfull:

"British rider Chaz Davies could find himself drafted into the D’Antin Ducati team for the final four races of the 2007 MotoGP season after Alex Hofmann’s controversial retirement in Estoril today.

The Spanish team could dump German Hofmann after he retired from the 28-lap race citing a lack of motivation.

Hofmann was last and six seconds adrift of the field when he inexplicably pulled into the pits.

His retirement has incensed team boss Luis D’Antin, who is now considering whether to axe him for the remainder of the season.

And top of the list of replacement candidates is Davies, who impressed D’Antin when he replaced injured Hofmann at the American GP in Laguna Seca.

Davies also completed a two-day test session in Mugello last week and is being lined up for a test rider with Bridgestone and Ducati in 2008.

There are four races of the season remaining in Japan, Malaysia, Australia and Spain, and Davies could be installed in time to race in next weekend's Twin Ring Motegi clash.

A D’Antin source told MCN tonight in Estoril: “Luis is very upset with the behaviour of Alex.

“He will discuss what to do next with Pramac officials before deciding on the next step.

“I can say though that there is a great possibility that Chaz Davies will be asked to ride the bike for the rest of the season, starting next weekend in Japan.”

Hofmann said: “Today was not my day. First, I had a problem with my A bike while I was going to the starting grid, so I had to come back into the pits and change to my B bike.

“After the race started and I saw I was six seconds back from the last person, I couldn't find the motivation to continue fighting only to remain last.

“I'm very sorry for reacting in this way."

D’Antin couldn’t hide his frustration and disappointment at Hofmann’s actions and he said: “I think that lack of motivation is not an excuse for us, and therefore the team reserves the right to make a decision on whether or not he will continue racing with us for the remainder of the season."

A decision is expected on whether Davies will be called up either tomorrow (Monday) or Tuesday."

It'd be nice to have Chaz onboard, but Silva is more likely as he's the teams contracted rider isn't he?

Fucking dump him now

lazy sod - i have him in my dream team as well.

bring Chaz in now and sack the Hoff

ok rant over now.

if this story is true then surely he has to go - he has had a disasterous season , ok not all his fault , but this is.

as much as i hate silva ( he is as crap or even worse than hoff ) but i think he is contractly obgliged to be the first replacement rider.

oooohh deep fucking joy cant wait to see my points build up now in fantasy league

This is what happens when you play politics. They probably got a little Dorna kick back to keep him around, and they took sponsor money instead of choosing someone who could actually race.

D'Antin get what they deserve.

Of course, this is the typical brainless reaction from the beta-male sattelite runners throughout motogp. First, the passive agressive move by Hoffman when he parked his bike in the paddock. Then D'Antin getting all huffy, when really the only bad thing Hoffman did was hurt their feelings and cause embarrassment. Enless whining about respect ensues. They're all born losers, let them hang themselves in peace.

In fact, D'Antin should give Hoffman a medal for supressing costs. He finishes last whether he tries or not. At least he saved them 20 or so litres of fuel. This hilarious drama has gotten more media time for the bike and the sponsors than a lousy 15th.

i have no respect for "racers"like this" thats face it, how many of us would kill for his job ?
rossi crashed last year at valencia but continued to ride dead last until the bitter end, he did his job and i respect racers like this. we see our heros race with all sorts of injurys where they would have just reason not to continue and this prick pulls in for no real reason other than he is last, ginters re joined and got a point.
give chaz the job.

and elias has a broken femur, he has used lack of motivation as an excuse not his hand.
