I've merged the two topics about Hoffman.

Just had confirmation that he has been released from his contract!

I'd be surprisd if he doesn't end up on the WSBK grid next year. He has been sniffing around there at a few races.

Pretty poor form to give up mid race but then again, if his mind isn't on the job then he was likely to get injured yet again!

Overall 2/10 decision in my books!

I wonder what Motoliam might have to say about this?! ... the team have probably told him not to comment!

Believe me, Hoffmans very motivated.. he's been one of my favorite racers for a long time, not just because of his racing but also because he's probably the nicest guy in the paddock.

Also, Hoffmans the only german rider, and he does have quite a large german fanbase - this one time, at a pramac show day thing (pramac is a generator for those who don't know) Hoffman was there doing signings (another reason to show he's motivated, doing stuff for the team sponsor.. Barros wasn't there) and the amount of Germans who went up to him querying about motogp was unbelievable.

No guy in the motogp paddock is unmotivated.

Don't forgot, he nearly lost his hand a few weeks back.

I agree, Pramac didn’t treat the Hoff right and wanted to get rid of him anyway! And I would be pretty pissed off too if the team that I brought such a large fan base to, gave my job to the fool (Silvan Guintoli) that nearly took my hand off!!! That is what the Hoff was really upset, pissed off about! And he only found this out on Saturday!!! btw: Fully fit the Hoff would kick Silvans arse on any track on any day!!!

I get team press releases

PRAMAC-D´ANTIN RELEASES ALEX HOFMANN FROM CONTRACT

After the Grand Prix of Portugal, during which Alex Hofmann entered the pit boxes with 17 laps remaining, and said, “I don´t have the motivation to fight for the last positions”, the Team management of Pramac-d´Antin have decided to release Hofmann from his contractual obligations for the remainder of the 2007 MotoGP season.

The last four races in the MotoGP World Championship will see a substitute rider in place of Hofmann, who will be named within a few days in a following press release.

Saying you dont have motovation to fight for last is very different to saying you dont have any motovation IMO. Even proven winners like Cadalora and Lil John have pulled in (or even "allegedly" blown their bike up) when they get frustrated.

KRJR has (allegedly) elected to sit it out rather than bang his head off a wall this year.

Racers want to win, and frustration at going around making up numbers cant be good for them. Still, they get paid to race whatever, so I say......give the bike to Chaz!

I agree, but I think that D'Antin was just looking for a good excuse to get rid of him. The Hoff gave Luis the excuse, and so the German's MotoGP career (and possibly his International racing career) is at an end.
