Omg Roger so did I!

If I was you, I would go to Cheste the night before the race (it is immense) but park up just at the roundabout (that will take you about half an hour to get through the ques) and then catch the bus down to the main bit (the bus is free, and gets past the jams easily) or you could walk from the roundabout - this saves time. Usually live bands playing at night with a big screen showing the qualifying from all events (in case you missed it).

i flew ryanair stanstead to valencia, valencia is a small airport but they were building a new terminal and train station there in time for the america cup last may. you can catch a train assuming they finished the station to the station about a mile from the track, that station is only open on race weekend.
i hired a car, you just come out the airport and get on the madrid road, you cant miss it, the police will direct you into one of many fields turned into a temp car park then walk to the track.
i stayed with a forum member called valencia expat and his mate. they were great people, they made us very welcome and showed us the way. he even offered to drive us everywhere if we didnt hire a car. nice way to make some extra income if you live there.
buy you tickets before you go, buying at the circuit may not be possible.
my advice is take plenty of water to drink and good walking shoes.
if you look up valencia expat say i recommended him. if you have any questions just ask, theres plenty of us here who have been and i think teo lives there.
