Not surprised. The Japanese are not known to overlook serious breaches of etiquette or disrespect for management. To his fans, Vinnie is superstar. To Yamaha, he’s a temp worker with a two-year contract.

he burned the bridge, I dont think he is going to be back on an M1 this season.

Since he has not been terminated, is he still getting paid?

Likely not, since it's a disciplinary matter rather than an investigation out of Yamaha's jurisdiction, like that of Aprilla and the doping investigation with Andrea Iannone.

Much better strategy than sabotaging his bike to prevent him taking points away from Fabio. (Puts on tinfoil hat)

Isn't it a Yamaha disciplinary action though? That's what I thought I read.

Not a bad conspiracy theory as such theories go. Sure on his day Vinales can beat FQ straight up.

I would imagine that a contract has language in it that protects the team from having to pay a rider who failed a drug test. However specific language regarding sabotage, may not be something they even thought about. I'm curious to see how this plays out.

I can't imagine there not being a clause in the contract to enforce punitive damages against an employee who consciously engages in reckless behavior resulting in damage to property or reputation, or words to that effect. Vinales isn't the first ever rider to throw the toys out of the pram.

Yes. This is why I think he’s likely not being paid.
