In the end it doesn't really matter, Rossi is unlikely to win another race. Once Marquez came along any tyres that suited Rossi over Lorenzo then could be exploited better by Marquez. But I can't help but feel that Stoner and Lorenzo (perhaps Pedrosa as well) were victims of Dorna facilitating Rossi's needs. Rossi is a great rider and had a great career but certainly profited off of good timing and circumstance. Quite a few things aligned for Rossi at the right time IMO perhaps the most important one being Doohans retirement allowing him to inherit JB and the rest of Doohans crew.

Tire shenanigans tend to appear confusing until you apply Occam’s Razor theory and understand the primary motivation of Michelin and Dorna is not safety or performance or even sport. It’s actually profit. So in this particular circumstance why change the tire mid season?

Sorry for not responding for a while - Last week was one I could happily forget.

A few 20 hour days putting a client live coupled with losing one of my strongman Brothers to COVID19 (31 years old with a Wife and Kids) left me with little time or inclination to be posting on the internet

I've not even managed to catch up with the Portugal race weekend yet.
