The intent of the limit on motors was based on good intentions, the very thing the road to Hell is paved with. In many ways efforts to limit costs for racing have had unfortunate consequences, but they're largely outweighed by the good ones; ie, more seriously competitive teams and making room for more new riders to move up to the premier class. It's a trade-off.

Exactly and just why the sport is run by corrupt entitites... want proof?

Well Vinales has had to take a 6th engine, so going by the ruling aka "Valve Gate", the rider has done nothing wrong and as such shouldn't be punished. So why is he starting from Pit Lane?

Surely because the engine has had to be replaced that is down to the manufacturer - so why don't they just dock points from the Manufactuer???

oops

Team/Manufacturer/Rider both rise and fall together. Fact is Vinales benefitted from illegally installed valves. I seriously doubt he didn't know. If he didn't - it's the people who did the valve work that he should have a grievance with.

It goes both ways. If the rider falls off the bike, the constructor championship suffers. If the rider gets a penalty and it affects his race result, again the constructor championship suffers. You cannot separate rider from bike in a team effort.
