He is one of the greats and though I loved to watch him ride, I have to say I am glad he is retiring. He knew it was time. Always appreciated his commitment. I think he has a bright future in whatever he is going to do.

He will go down as the only person who has beaten Stoner, Rossi, Marquez and Pedrosa to a title.

An all time great rider and IMO the rider everyone who wants to get on the track should try to emulate.

Just so you know, it is cold in Valencia Spain this time of the year. Not defending Marc, just saying....
The "correlation" to which you refer exists solely in your imagination. Everyone else in the room (including people wearing only cotton dress shirts) were sitting calmly and giving Lorenzo their attention. I made no reference to any other conference. Just this one, and my observation is undeniable to anyone with eyes.

And don't start that "he drove people away" bullshit. There's a long list of people on this forum with whom I've been friends with and never have had any contretemps - ever, and a short list of trolls, thin-skinned people who lost their shit every single time someone disagreed with them and people who employ insults in lieu of arguments with intellectual integrity. Good riddance to them.

Marc likely already knew and has known for a while. I’m sure the decision hasn’t been made this week. I don’t pretend to know the inner workings of the Repsol team or Marc and Jorge’s relationship but it is possible that Jorge seeker Marc’s opinion out before coming to a decision. It’s bad that he looked bored but he also has more invested in Jorge’s decision than the other guys and might be thinking about who his next team mate is, what this means for HRC etc.

I don’t see Lorenzo being a test rider either like some are saying. He’s retiring because he doesn’t want to have to climb the mountain again and dare I say also because a back injury is no joke and has made him reconsider the important things in his life and what he wants to do next. Being a test rider doesn’t change the risks or having to climb the mountain again.

If the 2018 Honda is a bit easier to ride, they should have put Jorge on that one this weekend for a chance of going out with a better result than last, and they could have put Zarco on the 2019 to see how he went on that.

They canít because of the engine rules. The 2019 engine doesnít fit the 2018 chassis. If the 2018 chassis and 2019 engine were compatible Marquez probably wouldíve won every race this year tbh.

Shame he will retire now. that young. But if ha has no motivation and doesnt feel it, why bother? He should have stayed at ducati tho.. We'll see if he makes a comeback in a year or two. Dont think that tho.
