Lorenzo is finished. He started to win on the Ducati and then suddenly started high siding everything... even on a straight bit of track. I don't know how he conned Honda to take him on - but they made a huge mistake that will cost them the Team championship and possible the manufacturers champ as well... all down to Lorenzo.

Honda ain't gonna be happy come the end of the seasn, that is for sure.

Not a Rossi fan myself but I actually felt bad for the guy. From what I have read, he did not blame Lorenzo or anybody for the crash like the others. Just a racing accident.

He crashed and it was 0% his fault.

I don't like Rossi myself but this is a sport where people can die (especially in crashes that involve several bikes at the same time) there's absolutely nothing to laugh about.

So let me sum this up: a rider that has won 5 World Titles and that notoriously struggles a lot whenever he is on a new bike, after showing a great speed for the first time on the Honda, is finished because he made a bad mistake that was however a racing incident?

How was it a huge mistake of Honda to take one of the winningest riders of the modern motoGP at a very low price (for their standards)?

is he selling any bikes for Honda? is he promoting the brand? No, No, Lorenzo is hardly a mention anymore (except when he crashes). They could have had any rider they wanted (outside of Rossi and maybe Dovi) for less money.

Before you read the below note that I'm nowhere near a JL fan so bare with me.

My actual question is: why are you guys talking like HRC desperately did all they could to get Lorenzo?

They first wanted Zarco, but it didn't happen.

They then tried to get Mir, but it didn't happen.

They then "found" Lorenzo at a relatively low price and got him on board. Which makes sense even tho right now he is underperforming. Last year he won 3 races and sucked in the second part of the season mostly due to the fact that he was injured.

And why is it so surprising that he is struggling to get used to the Honda? Bike-switching is particularly hard for him. I'm not saying he's not underperforming (which is even a gentle word to describe his results) I'm saying it doesn't surprise me at all.

At the same time I'm saying that he didn't go from a 5times champ to a barely-making-points rider, and I think it should be obvious.

I don’t think anybody is at all surprised that Lorenzo is having difficulty adjusting to the Honda. Pretty much everybody predicted it. I don’t think anybody really thinks he is expected to sell bikes or do promotion. He is there largely to do the donkey work and hopefully create a more rider friendly bike. Also he is there to test out new parts and when appropriate run interference for Marquez. If his performance on Sunday in the first lap is really an indication of progress made he will start to really earn his money soon. Marquez is the golden boy and Lorenzo is the designated number two man.

I know it might sound crazy but Lorenzo is officially BACK!
I was sitting at turn one and he looked spectacular backing it in, starting to do the leg drag thing a bit too, he's adapting and absolutely trying 110%.
He looked awesome, totally fired up for the race.
Yes he made an error but really it happens every race weekend to many riders (Cal Crashlots...Sam Loweside etc..) just the consequences were huge this time.
Big respect to Rossi who basically said "This is racing...shit happens."

JL99 IS BACK!!

I got the exact same feeling when i saw him riding hard and going forward.

Hope he really is in form and can shut a few mouths up for good now.
