I always thought of the 90 degree/ L twin thing as something Ducatistas would say to distinguish their bikes as being oh so special whilst they are parked at the local cafe.

Yeah L4 is inline 4, 'Longitudinal'.

Yamaha and Suzuki are L4, all the other MotoGP bikes are V4.

Yeah you were spot on man.

Keshav's original comment of the Honda being a V4 and the Ducati and 'L4" because its a 90 degree V4 is where the confusion began i think.

Your english is better than most people who speak it as their first language in Australia. Probably including mine, if you knew how much i relied spellcheck these days.

Interesting. For years I've seen the Ducati engine referred to in the press as a L-4 and with my limited tech knowledge - understood that entailed the engine having ungainly dimensions that were at the heart of it's handling issues.
