Redding leaves MotoGP

Scott Redding is leaving MotoGP and Grand Prix Racing as he is joining the Ducati PBM Team with whom he'll race in the BSB Championship.

Scott IMHO should have gotten a Moto2 seat and tried a fresh start from there. I also reckon (if we speak Superbike) he's worth a seat in WSBK.

I think this is a huge bummer. As much as I love BSB, I think he's worth a lot more.

Does anyone (maybe from UK) know more about this?

take a look here https://www.motorsportweek.com/news/id/20129

Not sure if its a wise move but BSB is a tough competition and I think he could do with that.

@Theo of course he has to say he is excited and of course he'll have a ton of fun, but still...he should be in a World Championship IMHO

I knew he was losing his Aprillia ride but didn't know where he was going next. From interviews I always got the impression he feels he is the most hard done by person on the grid. I know being at the right place at the right time also forms part of successful racing career, but he isn't shy to use that excuse book of his.

I think his ability is beyond that of BSB but maybe the fact that he cant secure a Moto2 or WSBK ride says something about him.

I don't think success in BSB is a guaranteed thing, he's raced abroad since 2005 so he's essentially heading into BSB as a rookie racing on tracks he's unfamiliar with, against riders he's unfamiliar with and bikes/tyres he's unfamiliar with, sure there's every chance he could do a John Hopkins and be competitive straight away given that he'll be riding for the series most successful team but I think he'll find it hard.

BSB will be having a bit of a shake up next year though with Haslam going to WSBK, Dixon going to Moto2 and a few riders moving around, Tom Sykes and Danny Kent could be there next year too yet.
gekko1ro and Theo like this.

It's been hard for Scott. He showed great promise early in his career, but didn't continue developing as well as his early trajectory suggested.

I think he'll be happier in BSB, where he can start fighting for podiums and wins again.

Still a good rider in my opinion,he was always on the way out after his remark about being unable to "make a piece of shit shine",didn't go down well with his team but let's face it he was right, the Aprilia is a piece of shit,Aleix would agree although he'd be a bit more diplomatic about it.

He'll need to be fighting for good results, Birdy can be a tough man to please.
