I'm just surprised it came down to the 2 teams making this decision and not the powers that be.

He hasn't yet been sacked for 2018 and the 2019 talk has not yet been confirmed.

It also shows that the guy did not learn from his previous dismissal from VR46 racing (full credit that team for taking the action, now for the current team to follow suit)

I think the major reason that they only banned him for 2 races is in a small way related to Sepang 2015. If they'd gone the whole hog then maybe the minimum that Vale should have got was season disqualification, ie all his points taken away, as happen a few years ago in F1 (Prost/Senna).
For all we know they might have had a quiet word with both his present team and his future one to deal their dirt.

Article that Theo linked isn't the only one I have read saying he has been canned. Also seen a couple of times on of the high heed yins at MV quoted as saying he won't be there in 2019 as he doesn't represent the companies true values. Unsurprisingly.
You are right that he hasn't learned. Seems he never will.

Perhaps he's taking a Romano Holiday.

Somehow I can't see Fenati on a twist and go scooter, also the lack of a kill switch on the Gregory Peck movie.
