Most predictable thing ever yet it's as disappointing as ever; would've loved to see Miller on the factory Duc. Petrucci will be Pedrosa's Dovi. If the organization ends up banning wings, it could be the worst Ducati season since the last season with both Andreas

Wings are already banned for next year mate.

I thought Miller should've got the seat as well but by signing Petrucci to the factory team they get to keep both Miller and Petrucci on factory bikes with the plan probably to replace both Dovi(eventually) and Petrucci with Miller and Pecco.

Wings are not banned. They backtracked .
Wings will exist, but they cannot be disassembled either in parts or completely. So if you choose to run wings, they will stay on all the time.

So most probably, everyone will have Yamaha style wings next year.

More importantly though, custom IMUs are banned. There goes the “Magical” traction and tyre savings that the Ducs have been doing the past couple of seasons.

a 2 year deal for Petrucci? I am a little surprised they did no go with a 1 year deal, not only does it put both riders on the same time table for a contract, but they have talent in their own ranks (Miller and Bagnaia) that they might need to promote or else loose to a rival team.

I have to say that this signing hardly sets my trousers on fire. Fair play to Danillo, but we aren't going to see anything different I don't think.
I might be wrong though. The whole change in team dynamics may work wonders for him.

Well, what other Ducati rider or potential signing was as sure bet as Petrucci? The guy can ride a bike that is still, for all its improvements, an enigma and overall the third best factory bike on the grid. (Yamaha factory riders are underachieving, and people are willing to believe their whining riders that it's the bike...except, well Zarco.)

I'll be the first one to take my words back in about a year and a half if this turns out to be a wrong statement, but as of now I am fully convinced that Petrucci will surprise everyone on the factory Duc. Maybe not as much as Dovi did in 2017, but still.

.
That's the thing though, mate. The sure bet for me is that he will produce the same performances that we are currently seeing due to him already being on a current machine.
I'm not knocking Danillo and I hope that I am wrong.
Maybe I am just being short sighted and can't see past the present. There was a small part of me that wanted Ducati to make a left field choice and keep Dovi as their stalwart whilst taking a punt on someone else 'out of the blue.' Perhaps that's why I don't run a race team for a living.
