Which is what Ducati said to Capirossi, Melandri and Hayden in 2007-2010.

So the directly involved parties do not get to decide about what's best for the team, but someone higher-up.
Rumors said Domenicalli wanted him shitcanned.

I didn't say anything on this, I'm merely pointing out that if what JL said holds true, it's questionable that a higher-up vetoes ,when all of the managers & directors of the TEAM wanted him to stay.

I've also heard of that. We're talking about Claudio, right? Because I shitcanned Stefano as someone said that he was the one who vetoed. Don't want to be unjust

On the plus side, this means Marco Melandri will not have to race for food next year.

I would expect you to appreciate the difference, firstly considering they were compared to Stoner, secondly (and perhaps firstly) the machine was far more idiosyncratic than the current evolution, which Iannone also scored a win on and had multiple podium finishes by BOTH factory and satellite riders. Lorenzo's lack of performance was unacceptable, and even if we are to use his own words, the current iteration is a race winner compared to 2010 and before. You really want to hang your hat on this point? I'm surprised frankly.
