I don't know if the director, Stanley Kubrick, took acid but he was certainly a great film-maker in general.
Amazing filmmaking as most of Kubricks works were. Convoluted indiscernible plot.

I understand your position as well, and felt the same at one time, and I strongly suspect as you say he wouldn't address you in the fashion he does in person, and possibly not me either, while not as physically formidable as you no doubt are I haven't found that people rush to pick fights with me on the street either.

Synn can't really personally insult you or me though because we have never met, and we all three are anonymous posters on the internet, and while I agree talk is cheap and it is easy to be a keyboard warrior, insults from the likes of Synn are not really personal when it comes down to it.

The background conflict, in regard to which Synn I would agree deserves blame for re-stoking, stems from the people involved having spent a race week-end together and is truly personal involving information not gained from posting on this forum.

Nothing I hear from Synn would be something you wouldn’t overhear in an Indian restaurant or household
How is that racist?

Always good to see you diversify, in this case from ad hominem to straw man.

I take your point though, I don't myself equate Rossi fans with the Taliban, and I am sure those who devised the shorthand term for such fans didn't intend any implication other than that some of his fans are fairly fanatical, but if you regard yourself as such a fan and resent the term I will stop using it, admitting it was lazy for me to ever use it anyway.

I presume you meant to reply to another of my recent posts.

I specifically said it wasn't racist applied to Keshav by Synn. What Indians say to each other, or what you think they say, is their own affair but I actually thought Barry's point was valid.

As I said, certainly so if you hadn't read the Arthur C Clarke book, which I had done years before ever seeing the film.

The original Blade Runner, which I consider one of the greatest films ever made and of much greater artistic merit than the book on which it was based was somewhat similar, so much so that they felt the need for the narration with the original release; again I had read the book before ever seeing the film.

Barry makes a decent point that it could drive away Indian members of the forum but that is simply false. The problem here is we are a bunch of white dudes debating whether or not a comment made about a white man was racist toward indians or not. A completely made up term that he came up with the tell keshav to fuck off. Is he trying to get under Keshavs skin? Absolutely. Does that make his comment racist? Fuck no. We have a plenty of terms for white people who enjoy other cultures. He came up with a term like wigger or yellow fever. Are the terms endearing? No, but he wasn't trying to be. Thats a common problem around the world for someone to make a comment and for someone not of the offended race to stand up and say "hey that is racist," on behalf of another group. That just starts fires. If an Indian person was to some out and say "I am offending by the term used by synn toward a white man who loves my culture," then I may question it. I'd ask why that is offensive but I'd listen. However that ship as sailed because you guys already vandalized the term and tried to tag it racist. But think about it, I'd have no problem asking a Indian man if he thought this was a racist term if used toward a white man. I bet you'd get an overwhelming answer of "hahaha." However the use of Mexican monkey is and was racist and a Mexican was offended. Major difference.

So mexican monkey fuck is the same as snafu? Which means situation normal all fucked up. While mexican monkey means the worst of 2 races. Do you not see the relation? Is n***er rig an acceptable term as well?
Yes! It's a nonsense expression I picked up from a pal of mine in the Bronx who does repair work for my shop. He uses it to describe really poorly done homemade repairs that customers try, that end up making the problem much worse. My pal Bob, like myself, is an old-school lefty liberal and as non-racist a person as you'll ever meet.

I've said it before; there was no intent to offend anyone, and if anyone was, it was wholly unintentional. You've been on this forum a long time and seen the long knock-down, dragged out political discussions that have taken place way in the past (in which BTW Jumkie and I were historically always on the same page) so you would know what I stand for, and racism blatant or subtle is not something I've ever been a party to.

For the record, when I used that expression, Jumkie never gave a shit, because he knows me well enough that I would never purposely race-bait him, regardless of how heated out debates were. It was only long after JKD dredged up that obscure link and lit a flame under Jum's ass that he decided to fire up this whole fucking tempest in a teapot - which in the end, is all this is.

I think, that's a much as I want to discuss this. Frankly if it were just to talk about it with Jum or Johnny - I wouldn't bother because they're both so invested in being angry. You on the other hand have struck me as being much more fair-minded and neutral. People tend as a rule to stick to their beliefs, so it might be a big waste of time trying to make you see that this is what I say it is. But I had to try. Because, and I've said it before, I misjudged you early one, but have come to enjoy your contributions on the forum . . . well except the stuff about Stoner. In the event, you do what you gotta do.
